All the services are completely perfect except that my husband and I don't get the room that we wanted..I got room 44 which is quite hot because it is not facing the breezing area..and also we don't expect there is no television in the room..maybe we already get used to have it everyday..but still can watch it in the tv room...anyway...it is just a small issue that can be accepted..overall..i love been there..like to be there...again and again.. our 5D4N seems like not enough for us! The transfer from Sandakan was very well organised and the boat ride was great - I've read some reviews saying it was quite rough, but ours was very calm and relaxing (enough to have a snooze on the way!). My friends and i booked a 5D4N diving package with Avillion Resort at Palau Layang Layang during Easter weekend. I missed my connecting flight from KK to the Resort due to adverse weather in HongKong. My friends and I managed to locate our travel agent after office hours. Through great effort, they managed our crisis during peak season with flying colors. I was on the next available flight to the Resort. We stayed at Lankayan Island for 5days/4nights - one diver and one non-diver. We had a wonderful time at this fantastic little island, only 15 minutes to walk around the whole island. Diving, food and staff were reaaly great. We even saw turtle hatching - 103 baby turtles was set free on the beach :-) We were picked up at our hotel in Sandakan and had a boatride for 1,5 ours, the boatride to Lankayan island was quite rough, but the return to Sandakan was nice and calm. Everything was set up perfectly and very simple. Great service and allways there to help with anything, we needed a motel for the night before we flew out and that was also taken care of. We had a flight delay leaving, we were contacted and all arrangements were taken care of while we were waiting for a flight. Thank you so much Serena Vu for arranging my accommodation at Sipadan Mabul Resort. The Resort staff and dive crew were excellent. The accommodation is comfortable, the food is good and sufficiently catered for all eaters. One recommendation for fellow divers is the Mabul Resort House Reef. Asia Diving Vacation assisted us with the booking of a one week diving trip to the Reef Dive Resort on Mataking Island. The facilities were great and the logistics worked like clock work, including arranging for the permits to dive at Sipadan. The entire process went very smooth. We had a fantastic time at this resort! The diving at Sipidan is world class; the house reef was fun for both snorkeling and diving. We also did 1 day of diving around Mabul and saw some amazing small critters thanks to Rebecca who was our dive guest and has eagle eyes! I would like to take a chance to appreciate the assistance from Serena and Nora for a wonderful arrangement. Finally I did enjoy a lot over there and with a good hospitality over there. 3 areas could be improved: 1. I visited to Kapalai dive resort for 6D5N and these guys had perfect organized to this trip for me. My brother and I spent 4 days in Kapalai resort, and dove Sipadan. There was no other option to extend the holiday one more day. Living on the water with turtles mowing your lawn is great! Recommendations to the resort are to have a water/waitress at all the jetties since no one uses the furiniture now. And the cleaning crew could be a little more silent in the morning when people do not go diving. But overall, please send me back to this place. It was great! Sander and Wouter. (read more)

We have been to top dive spots of the Indian Ocean during the last couple of years, namely Maldives, Malaysia - Lankayan, Bali and finally Malaysia - Sipadan... We have chosen the SKDR mainly because of the fact that is a dive resort and artificailly built in the middle of the ocean so that there won't be any touristic activities, but just diving. After the deposit was paid, I didn't hear anything more from them and I had to follow to ask if payment was needed. I would think that the agent would follow up on this. This place seems to be a bit more expensive than others in Mabul, but well worth the extra money. The food was very good with plenty of choice. The accommodation was fine and in very nice surroundings. And the diving instruction was as good as you could hope for - relaxed whilst not compromising on safety. The transportation from Semporna to Mabul and from the island back to Tawau airport was well organized, the diving was great, the rooms clean and functional, and the food was good and provided in a good variety (both between dives for lunch and at the resort). Thanks to Serena I got all the hotel/dive resort advice and assistance needed during booking in a timely manner via emails. All the arrangements to both meet me and take me to the Tawau Airport and transfer to the boat in Sandakanto to Mabul island were done without a hitch. The resort room was clean with air conditioning! The bathrooms were OK, but I didn't spend too much time in my room. I stayed at Layang Layang for 12 days in June 2012.It was great not many people just what I like as I love to take photos. The rooms are good so if you are a diver you will be happy but if you are a resort junkie stay home. There is lots of food it never runs out with 6 meals a day and free internet. Now the business end the diving is better then Sipadan as every dive is a 40m wall dive and the dive sites are only no more then 5min in the boat away, the vis was alway around the 40m mark... We went in family to Mabul resort. The dive was good but specialy in Sipadan (my husband point of view, I did not go because of my kids). We made a request to change room and the staff try there best to accommodate us. The room was good and cleaner after we had changed. The food was not the best but ok with a lot of choices. They have different sports fiels(football, volleyball) so we were able to play with our kids and we enjoyed it a lot. It was a good choice that we booked to Mabul Resort. (read more)

We stayed in a stand alone beach hut in March 2012. It was basic but clean and serviced every day. Could do with a bit of a make over but the main reason for our stay was the diving. The dining options were a little limited but always plenty of food and something freshly bbq'd or cooked every night.
