“Be VERY wary and ask questions”

Written on: 29/10/2013 by millychristie (1 review written)

Be incredidbly wary of booking with this company. My experience was one of nothing but stress....before I travel!!

The secret to dealing with this lot is to ask questions. They do offer the cheapest deals on the internet, but by the time you add on the extra's and hidden surprises, you are just as well dealing with another company, which is more clear cut.

I booked the holiday over the phone, with no issues and found the gentleman to be more than pleasant. At the end they give you the usual terms & conditions...LISTEN very carefully and don't fall into my situation. The flights are based on 'Super Saver', which in my case meant, that instead of a direct flight (which I presumed I would have) from Glasgow to Sharm El Sheik, I was offered one from Glasgow to Luton, then Luton to Sharm..Not the most convenient. Upon not receiving any confirmation, I was forced to phone for a second time to chase on some form of receipt. I was then informed, that they couldn't get a 'Super Saver' flight back exactly 7 days later, and it would mean an overnight stay in Luton, to catch a flight back to Glasgow....19 hour lay-over!!! Not acceptable...I was then offered the Direct Flight option, at an additional £59.00 each...Additional cost, which I wasn't happy about, as at the end of the day, it wasn't my fault the 'Super Saver' wasnt available based on a seven day holiday. They eventually conceded and although I had additional cost, it was reduced to £30.00 each.

Another cost to watch out for...The £18.00 Agency Bonding Fee....They should quote....£18.00 per person for each way of the flight...An additonal £72.00.

I was also informed that my holiday included the cost of Transfers. What they didn't tell me, that because I am fortunate enough to have booked a 5 star hotel, the hotel offers this service on a complimentary basis.

So, all I will advise is, be VERY careful and ensure you ask all the right questions....especially ensure that you get the correct flight details before you hand over any card details....If that means them having to phone you back, then I strongly suggest that's what you do.

My £389.00 advertised holiday landed up costing £510.00 each, with all of the additions.

Personally, I will never deal with again, and I've booked lots of holidays over the phone, but this lot, although they give you the information....eventually....they are not very forth-coming, and when they are...it costs you more.

Firstly let me just clear up, there are no 'hidden' costs, everything is quoted to you over the telephone. As in any industry, all prices are lead prices, and this is no different with travel. If you want the cheapest possible travel, with no bags or transfers, you can have just that. Call any agent on Ice lolly, teletext etc, they all operate in exactly the same manner. All prices are lead fares and available to book at that costs. If you want an Egypt holiday £200 per person cheaper than any where else, we can offer that, but you must accept the prices are that much cheaper because the flight will have a stop en-route.

Let me also point out, that when you were offered an extra day, or the option of a direct flight at an increased cost NO MONEY HAD LEFT YOUR BANK ACCOUNT and no booking made at this point. You are at liberty to refuse the alternative offers and look elsewhere. You accepted an alternative offer, this is your choice.

Your final price of £510 person to Egypt on the dates you picked is still a fair chunk cheaper than anywhere else and this will be because you booked onto a seat saver fare. If you wish not to book onto in direct flights you can do so, but this costs more money. All of this is pointed out to you during the booking process. What people seem to do is book the cheapest fare, listen to the terms of that fare, either ignore them, not pay attention, then complain afterwards. We offered you the alternative to pay the extra and book the direct flights, but even then you have complained, at that point as I said before, you should've just cancelled down your booking request as no money had left your card.

The agency bonding fee again is quoted on every telephone call, if you do not wish to pay for this, again, we can end the telephone call and you are at liberty to look elsewhere. It is not something we do not quote on the call or merely add on without notification. This bonding covers you if any part of your holiday fails, it is your full financial protection when travelling. Certificates are issued and can be sent if you wish to have them.

Transfers were included with your holiday, whether the hotel offer this or we do is irrelevant, it doesn't change the fact it was included, we still have to pay the hotel their rate which is a price including transfers.

I would agree with you, when entering into any contract, be it a mobile phone, life insurance or a holiday, listen carefully and make sure you read terms and conditions. That is what they are there for.

You gave me no alternative....You stated that it would cost me £50.00 per person to cancel this holiday, and given the way you operate, that was certainly what I wanted to do....You 'offered me an extra day'....You make that sound like it was in egypt, when in fact it was the lay-over at Luton Airport!!

I stand by my comments...DO NOT give this company any card details until you have the full cost, and your exact flight details and are 100% happy with everything. They are a genuine organisation, but as already stated, and proved by the comments above....not forth-coming with the full story.

They are cheap.....but for a reason as I come to find out!!

Quite right, we are cheap, we are able to offer holidays to places like Egypt at peak periods for hundreds and hundreds of pounds cheaper. Saving families over £1000 on a holiday, so they are able to go to places that as a family, they couldn't normally afford.

On any seat save fare that is booked (they alre not all seat savers as you imply) the first thing we say is 'We are about to read you some important terms and conditions of this booking, please listen carefully and if you do not understand any of the terms, please stop us and ask'. Before the terms are even read, we tell you to listen and ask if you do not understand. If you choose not to listen or ignore this, there isn't much more that we can do. The terms also go on to say 'this is booked on our seat save fare, which means flights will be indirect, involve a stop and/or a change of aircraft en route'.

This really cannot be any clearer and if you wish not to have this, you only have to say.

I re-iterate to everyone....no matter how cheap the deal.....DO NOT give card details until you have complete details and full costs....

That way you wont face paying £100.00 for cancelling what comes to no mroe than a phone call

I agree with you.

If you want exact confirmed times you pay more and get confirmed flights.

If you want the bargain deal (which many people do) hundreds of pounds cheaper, you book the seat save fare.

The options are there, your own choice.

As it turns out.....If 321 Travel don't like the comments you place on a Forum (which is for public information to allow them to make your own choice) they threaten you with legal action, and accuse you of being a liar and giving untruths

My experience is exactly that. My experience of the organisation. It is my interpretation of what I have been through.

At no point, did I say the company was wrong. I however do think they are not forth-coming with exact details.

I freely acknowledge I should have listened to the T&C's more closely as the full information was provided.....But not the exact details of flights....and that is the point I would encourage everybody to ensure they have before booking.

The £18.00 agency fee.....Yes...was told about it, but wasn't informed it was for each way of the flight.

I do invite 321 travel to share with the public the lies and untruths that I have made.

Maybe they will like to keep that for their legal action?

This is a public flatform to post your opinion on a service or product. If there are any untruths or libellous comments within that posting we will seek full recompense legally, as we are entitled to do so.

Just because this is a public platform to review a company, that does not mean only 80% of the story/version of events should be correct.

You have tried to make it sound like we have hidden costs from you and somehow skimmed past important terms. It is as much your obligation to listen to the terms and costings as it is to listen to the dates, airports being booked etc. Terms were very clear, you were asked to listen carfeully. The same goes with the costings.

The agency bonding levy having listened to the call was quoted word for word as '£18 agency bonding fee, this is a per person charge on each of the flights that you travel on, each way.

Those two 'opinions' alone are libellous in the fact you are trying to portray we hide details of a booking and costings from our customers. This is not true and will be defended vehemently. You were given full costings and read full terms. You booked a seat save fare, the very nature of this fare as explained is that you are booking on the premise of the cheapest possible way to get to point A to B, not knowing exact times upfront, they are a guideline.

You seem more intent on having the last word more than anything else. Your booking was very clear and I really cannot see what more we could've done.

At no time did I state you never gave the information.....you just never provided the full information when asked.

In addition, at no point I'm I stating that nobody should use your services.

I am however stating the mistakes I made while dealing with your organisation....and I re-iterate 'MY MISTAKES',

It's up to the public to make their decision from there, but threatening people with legal action certainly doesn't portray your organisation in a good light.

And of course I want the last word.....I'm a woman!!

Hi Millychristie I have gone through the exact same situation as yourself. Me and my partner booked to go to Egypt supposed to be flying on Saturday 2nd November got told about a charge of £18 and was told this was a legal requirement at not one point of the conversation was I advised of £18 per person each way and was told and confirmed before booking and payment taken the full amount would be £838 all in this was for luggage flights hotel everything and the colleague even said to me at the end of the call there is no admin fees no additional fees on top it's just £838 and that's it so I booked it all be known that the flight got cancelled and the only other alternative was to fly back a day early wasn't happy but had no other option so accepted this and to receive my email confirmation to a total price of £910! And this was for a day les and more expensive. I called to complain and then they told me about the 'bonding fee' as it should have been advised to me previous had added an extra £72 to the holiday. This money can't now be refunded and I'm paying more money for 1 less night. I absolutely understand what you are going through this company is a joke! And I am seeking legal advice

Lucy,

You have my complete sympathy. If your e=anything like me, it certainly takes the shine off the excitement of going on Holiday.

Just check your flight details when you get them. They made two mistakes in mine (although they will off course blame the airline). I'm flying Thomson, and even on the 321 Holiday itenary, it states I should receive an e-mail confirmation from the airline, and that I may be refused if I'm unable to present such a document. 321 told me that what was on their email was sufficient. Again, before they state it is and has never been a problem in the past.....The airline told me differently, and as it's them that's flying me, I believe them more than 321.

Again, checking directly with the Airline...I was then told my booking was under MR and NOT Miss. Enough for some airlines to refuse you already. Then the gentleman asked if I would like to add a baggage allowance, as I was only permiited Hand Luggage at that stage, despite booking and paying for 20kg allowance.

I went through all the details with the Thomson gentleman, corrected the errors and had him send me their email confirmation direct to me, instead of it going to 321???

I might add at this stage, that I only went direct to the Airline, because I know from prior experience that Thomson require you to fill in API (Advanced Passenger Information), prior to the flight, and again if this information isn't provided they can refuse you on the flight. To the uninitiated, there is no mention of this on the itinery you receive from 321. It states its a requirement for Wizz, BMI Baby, Ryanair etc., but NOT Thomson flights.

I was then forced to get in contact with 321 to get them to add on my Baggage allowance with the airline, which they duly did.

Looking at the itenary I received from 321, it does state I have a 20kg allowance, but the airline stated differently, and to be honest, if it wasn't for the fact I went direct to the airline, I would have arrived at the airport, and had to pay another baggage allowance.

So to recap:-

1. Double check with your airline your allowance
2. Make sure you will in the API
3. Ensure you get the airlines email confirmation.

I even went as far as checking with my hotel in Egypt to make sure they have my booking!!!

Yet again.....another example of 321 not being forth-coming with all relevant information.

All I can say Lucy, is that I hope you have a fantastic holiday, despite the debarcle.....Its 32c...enjoy xxxx

I will never purchase another holiday with them again I'll make sure we'll check the airline before the departure date sounds like we have just been ripped off thank you so much for the reply and the comments I will take on board I'll print everything off I have received from 321 and discuss with the airline directly before leaving. Again thank you and we are going to try and enjoy the holiday as best as we can xxxx

Without going round and round in circles again.

On your passport, there are no titles, just first names and surnames. With Thomson, you are not required to add any information before travel, the airlines that require online checkin are listed. We book some 3000 seats per month without issue. Easyjet also have the option to add information beforehand, but just last week I travelled by turning up at the airport with my passport.

Your flights are not booked direct with the Airline, neither is your hotel, it is booked through ourselves, calling the hotel for example to check you are booked may well get the response 'we have no booking in the name of Smith'. That is because you are not booked directly with the hotel, so you may not show on their system.

With regards to any additional fees, please just call any company on teletext for example, credit card fee £12 a person, online checkins £20 a person, booking fees £15 a person, call it what you like, every agent has their own fees for the service they provide, afterall, it is a business.

I feel you would rather post on here than just take our advice and enjoy the holiday. If you got to the airport and had to pay for baggage for any reason, we would refund you immediately.

2 years on this site of reviews with some 80,000 passengers sent, our complaint ratio is not even close to 1%. 15 complaints in here? Most resolved to satisfaction. But some people do like to make things sound worse, when in reality, complaints are relative to bookings made.

It seems as though you are picking through your booking trying to find a problem if anything. You booked a cheap deal, got exactly as you asked and are almost hoping something else goes wrong when you haven't even travelled yet.

We wish you a pleasant trip and kindly request you stop spamming your review. You made your point, and had your say. We will request this post is removed if it continues to be spammed with the same booking and the same issue that we have already answered on numerous occasions.

Yes you do hide details of bookings and costings and telling people to listen to a message after you have their details. You should be putt out of business and stop threatening innocent victims of your schemes with court action

I have had the exact same experience.Change of departure airport, No being told the £18 was x4. For a 3 day break it was a disgrace. As a sweetener i was told I was being upgraded to a superior room. I was dubious and went on the website to find the hotel has no superior rooms, all standard and the same. How do you explain that. you need to train your staff.

i have had identical experience with these people. I was told at the end there was an £18 charge ,when i asked if it was each person they said yes ,no mention of each way. Did not know till I got the invoice. As a sweetener they said they had upgraded me to a superior room. Checked the hotel website and ALL the rooms are standard. Dont trust them. I had already paid when I was told I would be leaving from adifferent airport at great cost and time to ourselves, especially as It was a 3 day trip. Sorry I ever came in contact with these ppeople.
