This person is an absolute conman, after paying £450 to him in 2010 I've still not received any certificate or qualification. He will not reply to your emails or phone calls, he should be locked up the fraudster. It's not just me who is the victim of this con, there is also another 10 people on the course who he robbed off and possibly many more. The training was absolutely rubbish, he was to busy about his 'fag' breaks than anything else. Hope this guy gets caught and put behind bars. (read more)

I have to say i was one of the lucky ones in that my employer paid for my initial training. I did not however receive any feedback or certificates for the work i submitted which was completed in 2010. I had many times tried to contact him leaving many messages on his answer machine and emails in an effort to get a response, it obviously was all in vain, three years later and no certificates or qualifications. I completely agree I completed the course in August 2011 after attending course at Hilton Glasgow in March TOTALLY ripped off said that I passed all work and promised certificate for 2 months. October 2012 still waiting and having to pay again for the course. Not happy and willing to start a campaign to get this man put out of business!!!! he should not be allowed to trade and continue to steal from people. All my calls ignored and e mails. EDI have dropped him because he is unprofessional. Do not go NEAR under any circumstances.

Yes I would be happy to join a campaign. I lost over £300 on my CTTL's course and was instrumental ininforming EDI of my concerns about his bad practices so that on the next inspection they withdrew his status. However, they seem unwilling/unable to help and have directed me to the civil courts to get my money back without his address this is going nowhere. I know he moved to Lincolnshire-anyone know his address?

I am foreign qualified teacher in UK and one of the unlucky who wasted my money in joint program of PTLLS and CATTLE with (name removed) . I completed my training in Manchester but he wasted my time I even write to EDI but they flatly refuse to help me, anyhow EDI maintain his membership, I am surprise (name removed) offered me PTLLS, CTTLS and DATTLS without preparing and demanded triple fees but I insisted normal single fee with proper training (if it exist in UK) as I am professional person and want to enhance my expertise. If (name removed) can issue bogus certificates with the help and cooperation of professional bodies then it is really alarming sign to UK Degrees credibilities I am witness that in my group of six candidates (name removed) did not verified and checked ID of anyone of us.He is doing his business with a abundant irregularities which are mentioned on internet but no authority is taking notice of this.

Has anyone tracked him down yet. I "passed" my Ptlls in Jan still haven't received certificate, contacted City and Guilds, they haven't heard of SPTI and I am not registered!!! Desperately need my certificate as I am wanting to progress onto a higher level, There is an (name removed) registered and taught Ptlls.

He and his daughters are heavily involved in Western (quarter horses) horse riding. You can track his movements from the Oak Ridge Quarter Horse and WES websites as he and his daughters have been entering several compeitions, including a charity one - oh the irony given he has ripped so many people off!!!

This man is a conman and it took a fellow course attendee to pay a visit at his home.... to get things moving. i enrolled on a combined ptlls / ctlls course with SPTI in early 2011. the course price was £1000, half of which was paid by my employer and the other half in cash on the first day of training. i did a weekend course in a hotel in birmingham that was great and informative. i was a little concerned by mr davies continually going on about how big his house was and how many horses he owned but he knew his pedagogical stuff and was generally a 'good guy' the next part of the course i attended... I was lucky enough to have booked and paid for a course through a crowd called Tutorecare, after fobbing me off for a few months they then realised the extent of the damage done by this incompetent obese chain smoking loser, they gave me a refund. However, i've lost so much time with this pratt i feel that a refund was not really enough. I am not sure of EDI's standing. Owen was held responsible for the same procedure he did with providing SIA courses, SPTI was barred from it, but not permanently. I am not sure why didn't EDI carry out background checks with SPTI. Its utterly irresponsible from EDI's side too. I will sue EDI if I can't get hold of my refund from Owen. (read more)

He does seem to have a clear business model: as an un-registered company, he can't be put into receivership, he can just leave it all behind and walk away and start again under another company name. He prefers bank transfers and provides a discount for these off fees, so that you can't get your money back. He doesn't even register students with the provider until they demand a certificate!! The EDI/City Guilds of the world seem to support this by not requiring providers to have any legal status in their accreditation, not having any sort of service commitment to their students in writing, and not providing any information about the case in terms of data to support a claim!!

I signed up for a PTLLS course last year and, in fact, I did start it and I even spoke to the guy who was quite helpful to start with. However, I had to stand back from the course because my Father was ill (and then died) and, I had a spate of job interviews to go to as well. I kept Owen informed but now that I want to pick up again, he (and his website and his telephone number) have all disappeared from the radar! I've lost £275 which I can ill afford, having been made redundant last year (whole point of studying for the PTLLS in the first place to try and open up my work options!!!!)

Owen Davies of SPTI deliverd a PTTLS course for us. No paperwork was completed, no PTTLS certificates came back to us and the awarding body told us he had not even registered us as students. I have tried to contact Owen on several occasion to no avail and have now filled out a fraud report and will be going forward with reporting him to my credit card company. I realise now that he is not certified by EDI i will never see my certificate or proberly money unless my credit card stump up. do not use him i even called EDI before taking the course to confirm he was legit - before paying to enure i was getting what i paid for STAY WELL CLEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! During the sessions he was interested in the other learner due to the sexual orientation. then he discussed all about his horses and big house. I too, have been conned by this man. I and 8 other Trainers wanted to upgrade from a level 3 to a level 4 PTLLS and our experience of him are the same as other posts. We thought he was genuine because his name was given to us by a Local Authority who use our services as trainers. He has even managed to con them. I am a member of the Consumers Association Legal Services and they have been advising me. Their advice is that given his track record it is unlikely he would repay any money and... (read more)

In order for The Consumers Association Legal Department to issue a claim in the small claims court they needed an address. I have confirmation from EDI that (name removed) now uses a Lincolnshire address.
Because of (name removed) nomadic life style the CA would need to know he is reading letters posted to this address.
I haven't done that yet.
A post on 21 June gives an email address of a TV person who is researching (name removed). Could be useful.

Not sure how you paid him but I paid for the PTLLS/CTLLS combined course via Google Checkout and have finally managed to obtain a refund via the credit card company, I filled in a report, made a complaint via EDI and Action Fraud and and sent copy of all my emails and voicemails to my credit card company. They managed to obtain me a refund this week under services not received. EDI had informed me that he had been under criminal investigation and recently they have struck him off their list but I don't know what the outcome of the investigation was as he appears to still be trading. Also although he still uses his Dumfries address for invoicing and contact details he is actually in Lincolnshire.

I have been waiting 3 months for a refund, have left numerous emails and voicemail messages and have threatened legal action. My course got cancelled I wasn't offered a replacement and the communication from Owen regarding online support is a complete waste of time he NEVER replies to emails or phonecalls. I like everyone else on here feel I have been conned by this man and have had no way to get in touch with him. I also know of another student who has been conned. I have been trying since November 2010 to get my CTTLS certificate and now he seems to have dropped of the face of the earth. Now that I see all these other people, maybe it is time for us all to band together and go after the awarding body to try and get our money back, as they were registered on his webpage and should share the blame for his dishonest acts.

3rd March 2012 I am extremely concerned about the lack of communication from Owen Davies concerning the blended online PTLLS course. I have sent 2 emails and have left 2 voice mail messages over the last 2 weeks. I am still waiting to have 4 assignments marked which were submitted in January 2012. As a paying customer I find it very discourteous and unprofessional not to have any reply. Unfortunately this leaves me still very concerned that somehow the PTLLS course is not functioning. I didn't like the way SPTI/he carried out the sessions and did not give any feedback. His company SPTI is not even a limited company. I am surprised how such a company can be registered with awarding body like EDI. In my opinion I am questioning the stance of EDI. After 3 days teaching in London,I submitted all the relevant course work only to hear nothing back. I have chased Owen since April, to to no avail. I have now contacted EDI (governing body for SPTI) to help me resolve the issue and will now start court proceedings to recover my costs. Did a PTTLS course with Owen, he has no interest in teaching, just sits back and gives the odd instruction, all the whilst drinking coffee and playing with his phone. It took 3 months to get the assignment papers and then only after my employer threatening legal action for a refund did he turn up at our work place to finish the coursework. I received this from the examining board
Dear Learner,
As you may be aware EDI carried out a Quality Assurance visit to SPTI on 23 February 2012 to review learner portfolios. We have now finished the review of all the portfolios sampled on that day.
Unfortunately we are unable to approve certification against any of the portfolios as they have not been fully completed. We have requested that SPTI contacts each learner to update them on the situation and provide support on the next possible steps.
We are aware of the distress that this matter is causing learners but as I am sure you can appreciate EDI cannot provide certificates for qualifications that have not been completed.
Furthermore after a comprehensive review of SPTI’s approval status with EDI the decision has been made to withdraw approval. Learners affected by this will need to contact SPTI regarding refunds or re-training.
If this proves unsuccessful then local Trading Standards offices or Citizens Advice Bureaus will be able to assist regarding claiming back any money paid for the courses taken with this provider.
EDI can provide candidates with a list of their local training providers if they wish to continue their qualifications. Please contact our Enquiries team on 08707 202909

www.spti.co.uk - SPTI is a company that claims to provide several training e.f PTTLS,CTTLS, DTTLS etc. This company is a 1 man show. he does not deliver what he promises. After a terrible training he would disappear & change his mobile numbers & will not reply to any emails or calls. you will never get your certificate.BEWARE (read more)

I have been completely ignored by Owen Davies too. He ignores my assignments and for over a month they have not been marked and there is no communication. Having read all of the comments on this blog, I think we need to get organised, get together and take him to court as a group. But I need to complete the course and wonder if the awarding body can be of any assistance.

I lost £800 with owen davies as he I registered for PTTLS and CTTLS but no certificates no documents nothing, s. Its a shame even edi awarding body is helpless to help me.
