Two of us travelled from Glasgow to Euston in May 2013 on first class tickets with Virgin trains. Overall our experience was good - pleasant environment, staff smart and presentable. The complimentary food and drinks were of a good standard and were offered frequently during the journey, including wine (East Coast trains take note!) My only gripe was regarding cleanliness of the coach we were in: when we boarded, there were crumbs on the seats and tables, and some litter on the floor from previous travellers, and the sills and lamps were very dusty. Also, even though we'd reserved seats, our table wasn't laid for us. As we approached Euston, the staff were busy laying tables for the return journey, but there was no cleaning or wiping of the eating areas, so there was further accumulation of mess. This really lets an otherwise good service down. The supervisor asked nicely if travellers would like to give her feedback as she was trialling a new cardigan as part of her uniform. Fine, but wouldn't feedback on service and cleanliness be more appropriate?
