I recently needed to travel from Bristol to Leeds with a colleague. We booked a Sunday afternoon train hoping for a relaxed journey during which we could discuss the meetings we needed to attend the following day.
We boarded the train in Bristol and immediately realised there were problems. There were 4 carriages and enough people on board for about 6 - 7 carriages. We were sardines, trapped. As the journey to Leeds progressed, we saw people sitting on the floor due to the exhaustion of standing for so long. We also heard that the buffet trolley "would not be making it's way through the train, due to Health and Safety reasons", also know as there was no way through the overcrowded cariages.
After 6 hours of standing without food or water, we were finally set free in Leeds.
It was the worst journey I have had on a train anywhere in the world.
