I've found PGS to be totally reliable in a tricky situation where I was trying to get a gas safe inspection done on a property and the tenant was unwilling to co-operate (for goodness sake!) PGS also gave great advice in a follow up situation with this tenant. More mundanely they were professional and efficient from start to finish, on time, did the job, billing was clear, no sucking of teeth and shaking of head stuff. Operative arrived in early part of time slot and set straight to work. After completing main electrical work also took on many additional small handyman tasks to maximise the hour. Allowed time to clean away using hoover etc. Pleasant and helpful throughout. Will definitely use again. Overall the service was good. The engineer was on time and phoned before arriving which was helpful. I could get an appointment quickly and the person I spoke to on the phone was very helpful. One thing I was frustrated with was that due to company policy, the engineer was not allowed to replace my fused spur which literally required taking two screws out and putting two new screws in. This was easy enough for me but it seemed silly that he could not do it as part of the job. (read more)

Due to the nature of the work (broken window handle) and the fact that it was a very windy day I required the work to be done that day. I needed a plumber at very short notice having been told by the British Gas HomeCare subcontractors that changing a tap wasnt covered by the home care plan and would incur extra costs. As I had two taps to change and the quote was around £75 a tap I thought I'd look elsewhere. Our boiler stopped working just as my wife was being taken in to hospital to have a baby. They were very understanding and did their best to fit around our difficult timescales. The work carried out seemed expensive and I believe would have been cheaper (though not necessarily quicker) going to the manufacturers themselves for repairs. However, customer service was very good throughout and dealing with the friendly and professional help desk made everthing much easier. (read more)

I've used PGS on several occasions - I like them because they are very reliable and work to a good standard. They have a central office that deals with phone calls/paperwork, which means that it is always easy to get hold of someone when you want to arrange or change a booking. They are also very well organised. The downside is that you end up paying above average for the service - if you shop around you will find better value but you might end up coming back to PGS for the convenience... (read more)

I called them up because I spotted a rodent in my flat. Their service is amazing: they sent someone round the same afternoon that I called. Unfortunately, at the end of the visit, I realised that I ended up paying £107 for someone to analyze the droppings, tell me it was not a rat (thankfully), place some food poison on the floor and leave, all in 15 minutes. Engineer couldn't make it in first appointment, it's bit disappointing when you have to stay at home just because the appointment time is a slot from 9 to 1 and no one turns up.The engineer made it in the next appointment.There was more work needed than we thought initially.So the Engineer just came and didn't do anything, I still had to pay the hrly charge.The good thing that happened was the engineer's advice was very helpful and it would actually fix the root cause. I love how trouble-free PGS make booking a job. They're happy to liaise with tenants to organise an appointment, and they are always on time. I am very, very disappointed with the actual work carried out in my home. It was to stop/kill mice but made no difference whatsoever. I have most certainly wasted £120 on something that could have been purchased in shops for £10-15. I was in desperate need of a plumber over the Easter holiday, but my landlord was worried about the extra charges which may occur during this period. PGS had a reasonable hourly rate, which after comparing other plumbers in our area, seemed very competitive. Of course there were much cheaper services, but they weren't able to get out to me until the Tuesday. 20 months ago I used PGS to replace an extremely old fusebox. At the time I was very happy with the service for cost and efficiency. Two weeks ago the power failed in my flat and PGS were able to come out very quickly to investigate the problem, their telephone staff were very helpful and the engineer also found a separate, unrelated electrical problem which he fixed whilst he was there. I had a two blocked toilets which I had already spent time and money on various tools attempting to fix myself before having to call in the professionals. It took two plungers, one of which I had to do myself and about 2 minutes of plunging. Problem solved. Just needed the right tools for the job.
