Cheapest not always best outcome

DBWORKS Groundworks, Building and Landscaping

On arrival to commence work at our address, a young, director of DBWORKS, had the cheek to tell me (the customer) I had got the driveway/ raised hard standing measurements/position wrong! The correct position as discussed twice before. It was not parallel to the flower border either, tapering so to save on materials. All other quotes we had clearly understood our requirements that cars could access our drive easily if people were parked opposite. The gradient (also previously discussed) was also needed to be gradual rise to the parking area. I also stated the a sloping flower bed (created by the new parking area) would be managed by myself. The director had not bothered to give us a copy of the plan/dimensions in the quote, and FORGOT to bring it before commencing the job into the bargain (NOT very professional !!)
The crux of the problem was, he was trying to take as little soil out as possible to minimize cost of the job. I told him excavation should have been in the quote he gave me and was happy to pay. I got very frustrated with this fiasco and walked off, which gave him the opportunity to say -I am not doing the job now -and consequently departed . I also offered extra money a number of times to appease the situation, this was rejected.
I sent him the original note regarding the area/size of the hard standing which had been discussed , but still he did not accept he had got the job very wrong. He also stated he had met my type on previous jobs before (read between he lines), not a good way to treat a customer DBWORKS!.
He stated he had had to send me 2, TWO emails, WOW and the drawing would take an hour to produce!! Why did he not scan and email the plan he had already supposedly done for our job?

I had opted to include an extra £500 to use a concrete mix, that would have saved DBWORKS digging out so much soil too anyway!

No pleasing this company.
So as the title says, Cheapest not always best outcome. So be warned.
