Unable-group.co.uk. Poor work and unbelievably poor service I had a blockage at my offices. I called out Able-Group and they came as agreed. There's an inspection access manhole in one of the toilets that should have been the first check point. The "engineer" couldn't work out how to access this and using a flat bladed screwdriver damaged the tiles surrounding it. He proceeded to access the drains from outside in order to fix it. Familiar story by the look of it. I wish I had read the reviews here before I booked Able Group Plumbing. After going through details of my requirements and taking my payment details an engineer was booked in to inspect a faulty boiler and do the work along with a gas safety check. The person I made the booking with got a bit shirty when I asked if I could have a quotation before commencing the work and after inspecting the boiler. Booking made for an electrician to attend site and move some sockets within a commercial premises for an office move. Appointment cancelled with less than 2 hours notice and they didn't even have the courtesy to contact us in person - an automated message was left to which we had to call them to discuss the job. After many months of promises of a refund and lots of phone calls to the company . Mr McLaughlin the mnager has not dealt with the situation as we would have expected. Able sent a supposed plumber to look at a problem I had with my cistern. plumber said he did not have the parts to do the repair but could replace the cistern, the cistern fitted was half the size of the original one [he did not tell me this, [because l rent this property out and I was not present].The original was flush to the rear of the toilet, the replacement was supported by 3 pieces of wood only and l am not sure its even safe Ables reply to bad workmanship was he would cover the wood… Read Full Review

Took a day off work to have a radiator removed for further work on Friday. Explained at the time how difficult this would be for me and how important it was that the work was done. I was reassured that this would not be a problem and they eagerly took my card details. Phone at 10 this morning to cancel with a very matter of fact manner. “Awful”

Southampton area engineer - I am not one to moan, but the issue has not been resolved. Friday make the appt for Monday morning, I send pictures as requested to show what needs replacing on our boiler. (Single flexi tube need replacing) £64 a half hour + vat. Engineer comes says it needs a new flexi tube but says didn't see the pics before coming over. Has a part doesn't fit, goes to merchants no part there. He then decides it is a washer at fault. “Worst company EVER! ”

Please don't ever use them. Contacted them for an issue with my toilet cistern. They booked a plumber for the following day between 8am and 12pm. Took my partners credit card details upfront at same time (dubious practise if ever I heard one). 20 mins before deadline next day, I received a message to say plumber had called in sick and would not be attending and so they remade appointment for the next day at the same time scale. “Overpriced. Do not use.”

They charged £144 for 45 minutes labour. They wanted to charge £234 for a new part that was only replaced last year. The part is £85 in plumbing shops. They admitted that they do mark up parts that they purchase. Managed to get it working myself by bleeding the radiators. Cannot get a refund as I am not a gas professional so cannot prove that it isn't faulty even though it's now working fine. “No Show”

I was told a plumber would be with me between 8am-12pm. I receive a call from the plumber at 11:48 saying he'll be late, maybe 1pm. After trying to call him and getting no response at 14:45, I call Able at 14:53. They also try to reach him and get no response, so they sent him an 'emergency text' advising he call me. “Don't bother working for this company if you want paying”

Worked for these guys for a about four months until we decided that we weren't prepared to work for two months before we even got paid for jobs and materials that we had outlayed for! Yet they received payments on the day of the call. All my customers were happy with my work but annoyed with getting delayed calls cos of inept staff at call centre. My advice based on personal experience is that you shouldn't use this company. Stay well clear and try and find a local friendly plumber who works for himself or works for a small plumbing business. You are more likely to get the work done and some satisfaction as opposed to frustration. I had a simple problem with a shower control which just required a replacement cartridge. My tenants reported a leak in the sitting room ceiling so I called Able Group to identify and address the leak. Able Group sent a 'plumber' round to address a leak in the bathroom. They charged £72 for 30 minute visit but were actually on site for just 10 minutes. In that time the 'plumber' applied silicon to the corner of the bath and tightened the bath waste - to access the bath waste he damaged the bath panel. Two minutes in my house for a partial blocked loo, said the loo, which has been in place for 50 years, needed to be raised by 6 inches. told my son he would be back to do the job and took £90 from him for "Diagnosis". Able's so called customer services were at best unhelpfull and on occasion rude, when it was possible to speak to them at all.
