“Good old Gullivers”

★★★★☆

written by on 30/04/2012

in defence of Gulliver's World Warrington. My 4 children practically grew up there as we live 15 minutes down the road. I now take my Goddaughter aged 3 and the nostalgic teenagers love it too.

Its always been a bit understaffed, most of the rides are orginal and more have been added over the years (unlike Camolott which is so run down that every other ride site is now a coconut shy)

Yes its weatherbeaten and tatty in places, but my kids and thousands of others have had some many happy days there, Visits to santa and shivering train rides in December, baking hot summer days loosing shoes above the trees on the swing roundabout. Endless queing for the Antalope and thrills on the pirate boat.

Take a picnic, the food is greasy and expensive, but no more so than any other theme park) The park is in a lovely setting and really geared to the needs of motheres, toddlers and pushchairs. There are loads of seating areas with handy playgrounds nearby and a feeling that your child is safe. A lot of theme parks such as Alton Towers are over run with swearing teens and really crowded with long waiting times for even the smaller rides.

With Gullivers, the trick is to head to the right and the back of the park on arrival and discover it in reverse order. There may be the occasional rat or dead frog but this is because the place is in a woodland setting!

Don't be put off by these negative reviewers - Gullivers offers very good value for money and even when you finally stumble exhausted to the exit at 6pm there is a little free show to send your out smiling.
