Beginning early in the morning, we boarded a comfortable bus on our way to the English countryside. Our guide gave us some fun info about interesting London locations we passed on the way out of the city. Our first stop was a beautiful village called Burford-we had a set amount of time to wander the main street in the village, admire the flowers, shops and lovely scenery. Back on the bus,we took a short ride to Bibury for lunch. We walked past cottages covered with vines and flowers-loved it! Lunch was trout at a darling hotel, full of British charm. Yummy fruit cobbler dessert. Then we went on to Bourton-on-the-Water and in spite of a gentle rain, we walked through the town, shopped and took pictures on the banks of the river running right through the center of town. Once more on the bus to Stratford and all of the Shakespearean history there. Historians were doing a dig for artifacts at Shakespeare's home and were very friendly and answered all of our questions. There we sampled an Elderflower drink that was delicious! Not to mention the pastries! We rode back to London, full of information, good food and very satisfied with our English countryside experience.
