TomTom are regarded as the UK’s leading sat nav brand. With products like the TomTom One, the TomTom Go 500, the motorcycle sat nav TomTom Rider, and the TomTom Navigator series for PDAs and pocket PCs. TomTom also run the TomTom HOME system, offering updates for TomTom owners.

Many of the latest TomTom sat navs can updated to include TomTom Voices (sometimes called “voice-skins”). These can be celebrities like Catherine Tate, Simon Cowell, even Basil Fawlty!

    I have had this SatNav for approx 2.5yrs and it is only for occasional use. I really had to use it in earnest last week for a business trip to Northern Ireland and apart from a few 'missed turns' due to lack of map updates I had no real cause to complain.

    Bought this for a recent trip to the UK. As I do not live in the US with normal internet connectivity, I planned to update to a UK map upon arrival in the UK.     I purchased the 540 when it first came out, i travel alot on the roads and did not want to be sitting in traffic. The map accuracy is good, but find £6.95 per quarter is expensive to keep updating.

    WARNING - STAY AWAY IF YOU CAN. If you do purchase make sure you update the map within 30 days as your map will be at least 3 quarters out of date on day of purchase. If you don't do this TOM TOM will charge you £40 to update the current map AND £40 to subscribe for a year.

    Very easy to use. Will always (nearly) get you to destination but the routes are plain wrong. Just yesterday I set off on a panned journey of 61 miles.
