First off I didn't receive a confirmation email about my order .waited 40 minutes then called then and they said its confirmed and it will be here within an hour. Long story cut short we was waiting 2 an a half hours in total for our food. We then both got food poisoning but that's the restaurants fault not hungry houses. Absolutely useless, using this service puts at least an hour on your wait, and that's if it doesn't come back to you later cancelling it, after you've waited ages thinking it's cooking! So, my question is- you don't HAVE to use a middle-man, so why do it?! (read more)

Firstly accepted our order, then 10 minutes before order due, got restaurant to ring and say our order was refused because what we inputed was wrong., even though we answered all their options. This was the first time and last time I will use this site. Firstly it took 40 mins to actually complete the order as the site is so painfully slow to respond. I finally completed my order at 8.05pm only to receive an email at 9.10 stating that they were unable to contact the restaurant and "therefore to leave you enough time to make other arrangements, your order has been cancelled". I have just spent the best part of 90 minutes trying to place an order with Hungryhouse. The website kept freezing and crashing (after Hungryhouse had taken payment, funnily enough) I emailed them to enquire about my order (that had been pending for 20 minutes) but got no response. I then contacted the live chat team (who were very helpful). I was told my order had been cancelled, and it would take 3-5 days for my payment to be refunded! Tried to order through their website - was extremely slow but eventually got the order in after 15 minutes. That was an hour ago and still no confirmation just a pending email (actually 2, one for an empty order as well). Neither their live chat nor their 0800 phone number work so ended up tracking down restaurant's number online and ordering direct. Good site for finding takeaway and seeing menus but my advice would be to then find a number for the takeaway of choice and phone them direct. (read more)

I've ordered from hungryhouse several times and I find the site so easy to use! I've never had any payment problems and my orders have been correct. It annoys me when people blame hungryhouse for the delivery taking too long when it's obviously the restaurant's fault, not hh's. I'll continue to keep using them as I'm more than satisfied with them and would definitely recommend them to others. (read more)

Have used Hungry House a number of times before but we placed an order for a basic Chinese Meal with Jasmine Garden takeaway Southampton at 7.30 in this Saturday evening. The email after the payment went through said there was a 1 hour and 1/2 wait. If we had been informed before the payment was processed then we would have cancelled. The rating system is useful in order to establish quality and helps in choice of food provider. Being able to minimise search by ticking cuisine type wanted is very handy. We use Hungryhouse at least once a week if not more and have rarely been disappointed. Good communication at all times and they are quick to respond to any disputes we may have with the takeaways. There have been a couple of occasions though where we've placed an order through the site, only be told by the restaurants that they don't deliver to our area. For starters the food was late, the delivery man could not follow instructions o the address and I spent ages on the phone attempting to direct him. Secondly, we had ordered fried squid which was rock solid, with the soggiest batter I have ever tried. I had also ordered crab meat and sweet corn soup, but instead chicken and sweet corn had arrived. As a pescetarian, I don't eat chicken and went hungry for the evening. I think hungryhouse is great. its quick, easy to use and does what it says on the tin. I have found that sometimes it is difficult to get your order across to the restaurants when you order over the phone due to the language barrier so this service takes that issue away completely. My only negative would be that there isnt much of a selection of establishments that deliver to me but i guess that isnt the fault of hungryhouse as they need to get more businesses to sign up to the service.... I've used them twice, once for a fried chicken takeaway last week and once for a chinese takeaway today, both times the length of time between order and delivery exceeded my expectations of a delivery service. When I order locally from the same restaurant from the time of the order to delivery is no more than 1 hour. I've just had to wait nearly 2 hours. After seeing I could get £5 off for a first time order through hungry house I thought I would give it a chance. Then when I went to checkout there was no £5 discount. I ordered anyway as it had already taken 20minutes trying to find where I saw the £5 discount. So I sent hungry house a message asking about this. We are extremely sorry to hear you had such a terrible time with our service. We understand that the past weekend in particular, there were severe issues with the website which do not usually occur. This, we fear, affected a lot of regular and potential customers, and for that we can only apologise.
This is not the standard of service we always hope to deliver and as such, only hope we could interest you in trying the site again?
