“IT IS EVERYTHING!1”

It seems, ever so often we get one black show that speaks to everyone and this is one of them. Tackles current story lines that others may be afraid to discuss but in an objective manner. Every character has their quirks yet, still lovable. Thoroughly enjoyed by me and my family.

I am a not professional tv critic; I am not even out of high school. Nevertheless, I am an expert on the show, Black-ish. I have watched and rewatched oodles of episodes. I know who's who and what's what. I even know where's where, so if you want to hear why this tv show deserves a five star rating, do keep reading. The tv show Black-ish is one of a kind; in a sense it incorporates all the things that make a satisfying tv show production . Even though the tv show is focused on reaching its African-American audiences, it can be enjoyed by any and everybody. The show is about an upper class family of six going through the ups and downs that come with every household. Each episode is narrated by the father “Dre”. He kicks off every show with background info on what the show will be about. Before Black-ish there was rarely an all Black tv show that spoke to me with such depth and wit( I’m not trying to incite a riot, just being honest). For me Black-ish showcased a black-ish family (similar to mine ) experiencing and solving real issues today; I feel other all black tv shows focused more on comedy than real world dilemmas. Just recently the Black-ish cast covered an occurring horrendous concern, police brutality. The narrator “Dre” opened the show orating about how as a child he never knew much about the the matter, so he didn’t know how to break it down to his younger kids. The first scene opens up with the family sitting in the living room ,watching the news, waiting to hear the verdict of another police brutality case. After this, the whole show spirals off in conversation around every fear, every view, and every truth to the issue. The episode really magnified my comprehension of this constantly developing issue and surely could do the same for you. To put it briefly , I highly recommend this show to any African-American and to anyone who wants to learn more about themselves and the world they live in.
