“Iliana quality?? I don't think so!!!”

Written on: 09/03/2012

Over the last few years I have spent several thousand pounds with TJC. I bought my first couple of entry level 'classic' collection diamond rings from them and after watching the channel for a while was persuaded by the way their presenters push the quality of their 'Iliana' diamond rings i.e. 18k gold and g-h colour si graded diamonds. In August 2010 I took the plunge and spent £550 on a 1ct Iliana diamond ring. Not long after receiving the ring, a stone went missing and in fairness to TJC they did replace the ring. I suppose the alarm bells should have rang then. At the end of 2011 I noticed a diamond had again gone missing so took it to a local working jeweller who said the ring was a very poor design with very weak shoulders/shank. I contacted customer services who told me to send ring to their recommended repairer 'Maker Mends'. I did so and received a report from them saying the ring was very weak (only 18 months old) and would cost £165 to repair but would never be the same. They also suggested re-setting the ring to make it much stronger at a cost of £1,000.00. This to me suggests that the ring wasn't of the quality I was lead to believe in the first place. After contacting TJC again with this news they suggested I write to their Operations Manager and send the ring for examination. I did so and received a letter from Mike Walls saying that the ring is damaged through wear and tear and that they would repair it for £195.00. I have an office based job, am very careful with my jewellery and only had the ring for 18 months - not long enough in my estimation to cause reasonable wear and tear. I am absolutely livid and will NEVER buy another item from TJC. Buyer beware, they don't care about their customers. I will stick to either QVC (excellent customer service)or Gems TV.
