“Absolutely dreadful store”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Ray257 on 01/04/2024

The Ossett store has really terrible customer service. Many of the staff are unhelpful and some are downright rude and ignorant. The shelves are poorly stocked and the freezers often empty and awaiting repair. They also charge top prices. The baskets and trollies do not appear to be cleaned and the checkout belts are often dirty. I will avoid this store in future. Just a few of the staff are very pleasant and helpful. I feel very sorry for them working at this place!

“Disgraceful”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 18/09/2020

The Birmingham Newhall Square branch has shocking standards of staff training and customer service. Myself and my partner have been verbally assaulted by the security guard on several occasions, prompting me to log a formal complaint and subject access request. The management team is extremely dissapointing and has been ongoing all year! No one should be spoken to or treated with such contempt especially as a paying customer! I also had to flag to them that their staff were not putting through card payments properly so I advise anyone that uses this store to keep and check thoroughly their receipts.

“Worst store ever! ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by 463Quinlan on 27/04/2020

Went to the Halesowen store this evening and was not at all pleased with the customer service. The security guard was breaking the social distancing while stood at the door where people have to walk in and out. Customers are then told not to worry about the social distancing. Which I was under the impressionwe was supposed to be doing with all key workers as they expect us to do with them. He then refused for a long period of time to give his security badge number causing a scene and belittling a customer smiling. I will definatly be taking my custom else where in future.

“Horrible experience ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Carl466 on 19/04/2020

Review for Co operative store in Slough Brtiwel ( longfur long drive ) Regular customer to this store , but recently this store management has gone worst , As per my opinion manager of the store has got no manners how to speak to customer, she does not know how to deal with complains ( no people skills at all ) . Reason for this feedback is recently I was not only Spoken Rudely but was also physically abused by security guard just because by mistake I picked up to 2 box of eggs instead of one allowed due covid19 rationing , As a customer and in interest of other community members I was fully complying with store rules even then I was sweared at ( gandoo) in Hindi language English meaning AxxHxxE by security guard , he was physical with me and when spoke to manager no action was taken , did ask her to look into CCTV footage but she was completely reluctant to listen to my side of story . Complain of this incident was raised to coop , but I doubt any investigation or actions will be taken against member of staff involved in this incident.

“Produce from Israel at The Co-Op”

★☆☆☆☆

written by ElBusta on 04/04/2020

After a hurried visit to the Gloucester Rd branch due to the virus alert I found out that the avocadoes I had purchased came from Israel. I had previously assumed that the Co-Op had a policy in this respect and I'd always shopped confidently. It is not advisable in the present circumstances to go back to the branch and ask for a refund, hence I've had to undertake the financial cost of this transaction. It is absolutely essential that our suppliers abide by strict humanitarian rules when purchasing from suppliers.

“Rudeness and lack of empathy”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Fletcherlj10 on 19/03/2020

Just been to this Coop of which ive been a customer since it opended..While i understand we are a country in crisis good manners cost nothing..To those that have been stock pilling. You have put someone like myself and the two vulnerable adults i look after with Autism at risk..Today i couldn't even get toilet roll or more than 2 pasta mixes for 3 people. The more places i have to go to get the basics the more i am at risk of picking this virus up due to my own compromised illness and disability I'm trying to avoid doing that because who will look after those vulnerable adults if i became ill. it's first come 1st serverd were the managers words when i asked about stock coming in.I have not stocked pilled once nore would i..then i get to the till in tears because there is hardly any food. The lady behind the till was quite rude please stop stock pilling..i can't get shopping on line and when i do go out i can't get what we need..In times like these we are measured by what we do.I have been spoken to today as if i was a stranger at the co-op and in fact shopped there for over 20yrs and not because the co-op didn't have the items in i understand that..Thats not my reason for writting this reviwe its the rudeness.Reason for the one star curtness and rudeness are something I've never experienced at the co-op but today i have.In times like these we are measured for what we do

“VERY STRANGE”

written by ldEmery153 on 10/03/2019

Very disappointed with the bakery products. When I go in to buy several to take into work for my work mates I am told that the staff haven't put them in the oven??!!! They never have any and always make different excuses (sometimes too busy and other times say they couldn't be bothered!)Days go by and the so called bakery shelves are empty. I go to Aldi now. Also there is a member of staff in there who asked me personal questions about my marital status at the counter (when there was a full queue of people listening and laughing ! eek - very embarrassing.

“Co-op Lyneham, Wiltshire ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Cullenjp1953 on 17/08/2018

I walked into the Co-op Lyneham, Wiltshire store in a good mood on a Thursday morning, just wanting to pick up a few things and heard a woman shouting at the tills. Medium blonde hair in a long bob, in her 60s. She was shouting something about how somebody told her that I said she talks loud at the till, and if I don't like it then I can shop somewhere else. I don't know if she mixed me up with somebody else who said that, as she was certainly shouting at the tills that time. I shouldn't have to walk into a store and be shouted at like that. I wrote a letter to complain to the manager, and had no response. I then wrote a review on their Facebook page, but they deleted their facebook page. I tried complaining to head office, and still no apology. Then I went in the store and told her I don't know who she thinks she is talking to me like that, but I complained to head office, then some young man with blonde hair who claimed he was the manager tried to twist it to about me. I don't know what kind of store that is, where they don't care if staff are rude to customers

“Co-op Witney High Street worst food shopping...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Jefftom46 on 23/04/2018

I live close to this particular store and would like to use it more often. It is unfortunately the most awful food shop in town. Too often standard check outs are closed and only tobacco kiosk and self checkouts available. Staff have been positively rude to me when asked about this situation. On one inclement winter day I was told I was lucky the store was open. The general atmosphere is one of apathy and poor management. How is it that a store like this is not improved when the Co-op has such fantastic ones such as the one in Chipping Norton. My feeling is shared by many other people in the town.

“terrible treatment of customers”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Miau332 on 28/12/2017

staff in a slough store racially profile customers and harrass them to make them feel unwelcome. if you are black staw away from this store you will be treated like a theif even though you are a law abiding person. the local junkies who shoplift all the time are treated like royalty compared to black customers.

“Worst Supermarket ever”

★☆☆☆☆

written by 3Newton on 05/11/2017

It does not matter which one you visit to purchase your goods, the customer waiting has to be patient whilst personal conversations are completed. You are very rarely greeted at the till after the conversation has stopped. Most of the staff need customer service training. I have had too many occasions now were i just want to walk out of the store. There are a few good staff but they are in short supply and perhaps they had their training somewhere else. You often walk into stores and there are no staff to be seen, busy in the back and till positions empty. I am surprised that this supermarket survives with the competition they have. I have used 4 different stores in the area and they are all the same ie no better on service. The cigerette counter is often used by people with trolleys and large amounts of shopping whilst main tills are empty, and the que at the cigerette counter is weaving around the store.

“Rude Miserable Staff”

★☆☆☆☆

written by F1942 on 27/10/2017

Visited a Local Co-operative store in Great Barr Birmingham in early October with my son after staff charged him for a gift card that was faulty even though they were aware there were problems. An Asian member of staff apologised and was about to give a refund when another female staff told her that nothing had been taken out of the account but was placed in a 'holding place' but however that he was to return by the Wednesday if the money was not returned into the account. Indeed by the Wednesday £25 was taken out of the account for the faulty I-Tunes card. Armed with a receipt and explanation, my son was treated like a criminal, not believed and kept in the store for hours. He then had to go off to obtain a bank statement which showed money was taken out of his account. The stand in manager was not at all helpful and staff were rude in their attitude. My son contacted me at work as I was a witness and found the whole situation unpleasant. We have never particularly liked this store as things are always going wrong and food items are very expensive or low in stock, as well as staff not very friendly. Now we intend to Boycott. Why not replace with a different more well deserving comunnity store?

“Check the weights of food are correct”

★★☆☆☆

written by AntoineAlvarado on 02/06/2017

I bought some soft brown sugar from the Co-op this week and needed 1KG for a recipe. I bought two 500 gram bags. I was in the middle of making the item when I decided to weigh the bags. Each bag weighed 438 grams instead of 500 grams so I was 124 grams short for my recipe. I shall weigh everything I buy from the Co-op in future.

“I brought a chicken from Rosliston Co-op yesterday ....”

★★☆☆☆

written by Rupertthebear on 23/04/2017

I brought a chicken from Rosliston Co-op yesterday . Reduced price. Use by 23rd. opened it today smelt like rotting fish. Took it back and they offered me a refund or an exchange IF I PAID THE EXTRA because there were no reduced ones left. When I said I was not happy about this the Manager said that it was "the risk you take when buying reduced goods".He was not helpful and seemed to be irritated by the incident. The Co-op seem to be fine when taking money off me, but having to pay an extra 94p when it wasnt my fault and the bad will it has caused. Was it worth it? So buying a reduced Chicken cost me petrol money to return it and ended up paying full price anyway. Never again ! and I will shop elswhere.

“Great”

★★★★★

written by Jeremy204 on 09/03/2017

Co/op team are always helpful only one lady who is a bit frumpy at times but otherwise very good towards me. If good are wrong try to amend them. A bit robotic at times but do stop and chat with me. Pricing is very reasonable. Nearly as good as Sainsbury who nearly won an award on WatchDog. Good stores. I think they should have a loo in them though and maybe a few more items. Also their Polish goods could do with English on them so that one can understand the Polish. They look good.
