Rankin1966's review of Tesco

“So sad that they came to my town”

★☆☆☆☆

They came to my town, and did some deal with the Council - next a historic building was knocked down, houses demolished, and an old woman evicted from the home (she owned!) by the Council so Tesco could build here. Google Enid Jones to find out more.

They distribute unwanted junkmail flyers through the doors in the surrounding area. I had another one today.

They spray the fruit with shellac from beetles and don't advertise this.

Three independent local shops have closed since they came here.

There are always their shopping trolleys dumped in the river, and they did nothing about it when I reported it.

They encourage unnecessary car use - there's not even a safe pedestrian route to the local store.

Lots of litter on the paths around the supermarket

I was taking a photo of an item to text so a friend who has mobility problems could make a choice - security pulled me up and gave me grief for taking a photo in the store.

All the fruit and veg is over-packaged, and usually from across the world with ridiculous air-miles.

Oh, I recently contacted them on Twitter to complain about one of these issues - they ignored me completely.

Oh, strangely, the free public toilets opposite the new Tesco have suddenly become ones you have to pay for as Tesco opened its doors. People busting for the loo are now more likely to go into the Tesco store opposite. Coincidence?
