I am absolutely sick of Asda's "fast lane" check-outs. I choose to use these instead of the regular check-outs because it's the only way you can check whether the multi-buy offers have been applied. (About 10% of the special offers are fraudulent: they don't get applied at the check-outs.) However, the "fast lane" check-outs are almost unusable if you use your own shopping bags. First, you have to wait for someone to come and check your bags before you can start scanning any items. Then, if you need to use an extra bag part-way through, you'll find that you activate an endless "unexpected item" alarm that can't be reset by removing the last item or the bag. On occasion, I've had to scan all the items at the self-scan to check that the offers are being applied and then take the whole lot back to a regular check-out so I can actually buy it.
