After reading all the good press I was keen to go to Aldi. Went to Maidstone store & found the store to be shoddy looking and barely room to move around as there is so much piled in the middle of the aisles. Very few products that looked appealing and a lot of bargain basement items lumped into large bins for customers to rifle through. The pricing is very hard to see & a lot (especially wine) didn't match the product underneath. A few items seem to be cheaper such as toilet rolls and parmesan cheese but really didn't see a whole lot of bargains. I found going through the till a pretty eye opening. The lady at the till just kept muttering at me about packing but she didn't make it clear that the reason I was struggling to pack was because I was supposed to quickly shove all my items into my trolley and then pack them again into bags at the front of the shop. Much prefer a supermarket where I scan my own shopping and put it straight into bags, pay & leave. The final straw was being told I couldn't use a credit card. No apology, just a blunt `don't take credit cards' from the cashier. Overall an unpleasant experience so won't be returning.
