“Oakley Half-jackets XL and Half-wires”

Written on: 20/07/2011 by WhatshisnametheThird (1 review written)

This review is a double review of the half-jackets XL and Half-wires.

First off the Half-jackets XL.

Nice styling, Oakley are good at this and the lenses are very clear. This is all that I can say that is good.

These are the problems: The coating on the inside of the lenses cannot stand sweat - they start to bubble and come away and look bad after say a year of use. I have had this on all three sets of lenses (they're interchangeable on the Half-frames). I have no idea how this affects the UV protection.

Secondly the plastic frames are made of the worst plastic I have ever come across. It dents and scratches very easily.

The Half-wires have the same problem as the Half-jackets when it comes to the frame material. Instead of plasttic Oakly use metal. What metal it is is unknown to me but it looks like a very soft grade of aluminium. Consequently it has worn on my pair at the joints and they now 'click' out of place as the metal that holds them at 90 degrees has worn away.

Oakleys use of weird names for their 'secret ingredients' is just a load of bull' to hide the fact that they use inferior materials to construct their sunglasses, thereby giving them the excuse to charge stupid money and increasing there profit margin which must be enormous.

I wouldn't pay £10-15 for a pair.

Oakley are very good at marketing but seriously bad a manufacturing.
