I purchased my wedding dress here and have nothing but good things to say. I was apprehensive about going to a proper bridal shop but Merl and her lovely staff put me at ease. It wasn’t stuffy or anything of the sort and we felt welcomed even with my 5 month old son in tow! The person I dealt with was very helpful, listened to me and picked out some beautiful dresses which matched my description. The ladies there clearly know their dresses. I found ‘the one’ on my first visit. I was also very happy with the standard of alterations-we were a little taken aback at the cost of these but that is my only criticism and perhaps that is just the going rate. I am very excited to wear the dress on our big day and would definitely recommend this lovely shop to future brides to be.

“Shocking Service..Bad Management”

The Bridal house in Leeds is a great place to buy a dress, if. Nothing goes wrong. Please read the previous reviews. They are not wrong. Some im sure have had great service but in my experience the negatives review totally reflect the service I received. I bought my dress here, like many others, after receiving poor service elsewhere. My first impressions were great and I thought this was the place to buy..and I did. However, once money had changed hands the story changed. The Manageress / Owner of this store operates a her way or no way policy and the customer is always right does not play in her customer service skillset. If you see a dress you like and its perfect..all good. If something goes wrong you may feel like you wished you'd bought elsewhere!

We are sorry you felt you had to put a complaint on line, if you had contacted the owner to point out what you felt had gone wrong I am sure she would have wanted to resolve the matter, please contact her and let her know how you feel, and give her the oppertunity to sort it but you dont stipulate what it is that upset you.

I went to bridal house after my first wedding dress was ruined by another company 6 weeks before my wedding. All the staff were very helpful and supporting, they managed to find me a dress and alter it all in time for my big day. My dress was lace and the seamstress had a big job to do in little time and the dress was altered to perfection. No time was spared. They saved my big day :) I have now just taken my dress back to the shop to get it dry cleaned and the owner was extremely helpful she was in the middle of relocating premesis but she gladly took it for me and said she would get it to the cleaners straight away for me. 5* customer service. All the Staff are polite and very helpful. I just wish I had gone there first for my dress Thanks very much bridal house :)

“Staff great owner a witch ”

Bought my dress here , the lady who served me was fantastic , but the owner well what can I saw she wasn't only rude to me but horrid to her staff , I only bought the dress at the bridal house because I couldn't find the same dress somewhere else , the lady who fitted and altered my dress was lovely and very good at her job but again the owner kept putting her down , I really don't know how she still has staff and would not recommend any one going

“NEARLY RUINED MY BIG DAY”

I bought my dress from this shop and was happy until I had the alterations done. The first fitting went well then the second fitting they accused me of loosing lots of weight which I hadn't as they said the top was really big so they then re-pinned the dress I was shocked by their attitude towards me and they made me feel uncomfortable and I wondered how the dress could be so wrong on the first fitting. They said everything would be fine and the dress would be fine on the day. I had a horrible feeling it wouldn't! then when I went to collect it the day before the wedding I asked if I could try it on but the girl said it's too late if there is anything wrong with it now (VERY RESURING!!! NOT)I checked the dress over and wasn't very impressed there was cotton hanging off all over it so I was not pleased after it had cost me £200.00 for the alterations!!!. Then it got worse on the day I put the dress on to find they had made the dress about 2 sizes too small for me (HOW I DON'T KNOW) as it was only 2 weeks between the fitting and the wedding day. there was a gap of about 1 and half inch so it wouldn't meet across the back and the press studs wouldn't have fastened anyway as they had used 2 of the same sides. It took 3 people 2 shoehorn me into the dress and lace me in as best they could. I don't know who they altered this dress for but it wasn't for me. if the dress had been an inch smaller I would not have got into it at all. I was uncomfortable all day and could hardly breath and ended up been 20 minutes late for my wedding. I would never recommend this company to anyone as I nearly didn't have a wedding day. I e-mailed the shop when I got back from honeymoon but have had no reply surprise surprise!!! DO NOT HAVE ALTERATIONS FROM THIS SHOP IF YOU WANT A DRESS THAT FITS

“Rude & Surly Staff, Appalling Customer Service”

I visited the Bridal House looking to purchase a veil for my forthcoming wedding and unfortunately the customer service leaves little to be desired . The young lady who was initially assisting me was quite pleasant , however half way through discussing my options with her another older assistant abruptly interrupted us and snarled " You can try the veil on BUT you CANT try THAT dress on" . This was obviously in reaction to the fact that I had bought along my wedding dress in order to check that whatever veil I selected was a good colour match to my dress, I had absolutely no intention of putting the dress on and had not even asked if I could do so therefore I was taken aback by her surly and aggressive attitude. The overall ambience and atmosphere in the shop is dreary and dull, not helped along by staff who are rude and unhelpful. I would not recommend any bride to be waste their time visiting this shop, the dresses looked dated and tacky and the service even worse.

I do remember you from when you came to look at veils and I listened to your complaint however I spoke to the lady in question and she denied tyhat she was rude to you I also asked the other customers who were present at the time and they told me that she was not rude they heard every word what took place. As for calling the shop dull and dreary I have had this shop for decades and am happy to say we are not dull or rude. and considering you did not look at our gowns I find your comments unrealistic.

“Dissapointing Aftersales”

Following my daughters purchase of a £1,000 wedding dress in January of this year, the staff at Bridal House could not have been bothered less. On the wedding day there were issues with the fit of the dress to the point where a friend who also worked in the trade didnt feel any alterations had been made. This store is currently moving premesis and the owner is much more involved in that than providing the kind of customer seervice you would expect from a well placed Leeds city centre boutique

I most certainly am concerned about my customers why did you not contact if you had any problems,, all problems are solvable. as for alterations they will have been done as you would have to sign a release form after a final fitting declaring that you were satisfied please contact the shop and explain your comments, and can you let me know who you are.

“Made to measure 1950's style dress”

On the 1st of January 2014 my partner proposed and we began to plan our wedding. I found the Bridal House in Leeds on line and went along to see them and we talked through what I wanted. Because I wanted a 1950’s style, tea length dress, they offered to make my dress for me, so that it would be just as I wanted it to be. I had my measurements taken and we drew a sketch of what I would like. When I first saw the dress I thought it was lovely, it fitted straight away. A few tweaks later and it was perfect. During one visit to the Bridal House I saw they had a sale for bridal shoes and bought my shoes there and then, another job done. I collected my dress 3 weeks before my wedding and when I finally got to wear it, I was thrilled, it was just as I imagined it would be. The staff at the Bridal house were very friendly and made me feel comfortable and confident about my choices. I would definitely recommend the Bridal House, they have lots to choose from and will make you what you want, at a reasonable price if that’s what you want too.

“Awful, Rude Staff ”

Appalling. Called in hoping to find a dress for my soon to be daughter in law. The staff were RUDE. We were made to feel we were putting them out by just being there. We didn't see any dresses except the one in the window. I am disabled and was told that the wedding dresses were upstairs [no lift] and the sale dresses were downstairs, and that I wouldn't be able to get to them. The shop was empty of customers, but they didn't offer to bring any dresses for us to see. I felt miserable when we left. Not exactly the nice bridal experience we were hoping for. I would never spend money there - not that I was given the opportunity... they couldn't wait to get us out.

sorry but not so you were not treated rudely at all in fact we asked if you would like to go to the suite for a preview and you declined. we also informed you of our new shop opening soon that was all on one level to make life easier for people with walking difficultys and you said that was going to be better for you so I am the lady that spoke to you and I was not rude at all.

Good Lord, if that was your version of being polite then I wouldn't like to be in the shop when you ARE being rude. You did not invite me for any kind of "preview" so I have to respectfully disagree. My daughter in law is very shy and was dreading shopping for a dress as we had heard a lot of bridal shops have very snotty assistants. However we managed to find a lovely friendly shop to take her to and she has found a beautiful dress.

I would highly recommend the bridal house in Leeds! Their dresses are top quality and the service is even better. I went to many different shops whilst looking for my dress and hands down without a doubt was the best by far. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful and made me and my mum feel very welcome. The alteration service is brilliant. I would highly recommend them, defiantly worth a visit.

Merle and her team are fantastic. The service I got was first class. I am 49yrs old and was a bit worried that the shop would be full of young brides, that was not the case at all. They went out of their way for me and my bridesmaids. I was thrilled with my dress they let me take as much time as I wanted when I was choosing. From the first moment I walked into the shop the staff were very friendly and helpful. Went back a few times until I decided on my final choice and they have gone out of there way to fit in around me and my working pattern. Also got my bridesmaids dresses from them and again all bridesmaids were made to feel welcome and all staff very helpful. All the alterations that needed to be done have been fantastic and again all staff have fitted around myself and bridesmaids. A Big Big thank you to you all for all your help and support. Would Recommend Bridal House of Leeds to anyone. I get married this weekend and can not wait to see the guest faces when I walk down the Aisle. sharon

“Amazing shop for wedding dresses etc!”

I first called the shop to make an appointment and only did it a few days in advance as work commitments mean its difficult getting the time off. However the accommodated me on the Friday at 11. I Went in about twenty minutes early but they were fine with that. Had a young girl called jess that helped me. I wasn't too sure on what I wanted so We picked out various styles etc. after about twenty minutes of not seeing anything That i liked or felt comfortable in. We decided to try something more simple which jess knew wou suit etc. and I Fell in love with the first dress I saw from the other collection. But to be sure we carried on trying similar dresses but nothing matched the other. After about an hour of trying dresses on and off I finally settled for the one I fell in love with. She advised me on when to order and what size to get as I'm sure every bride wants to lose a few pounds before their big Day. She wrote down the dress details and her number for when I go back in may to pay and order my dress. Then it was my mums turn, she's extremely fussy when it comes to dresses etc and it's been a struggle trying to find something she likes and is comfortable wearing. She saw a dress in the shop as they also do mother of the bride dresses. And jess happily helped my mum try it on although we were just there to sort me out and we had gone well over the hour appointment time. Well she too fell in love with the dress and is also purchasing it. The price are very reasonable and I would definitely send any of My friends here to get there dress. I'm going back in may to order it and try it on again to show my sister which they said is no problem and to bring my bridesmaids along too if I so wish. Please don't be put off by some of the others comments. I went in with an open mind and received excellent service.

“I don't think so!”

Well what a waste of time! I walked into this place today, and was practically ushered back out the door. She asked when the wedding was, to which I replied 2014, at which point she lost complete interest, told me that all the dresses will change in that time etc, and that I need an appointment anyway. Firstly, fair enough of the appoinment front. This is my first time, and I'm not quite sure of how it all works, so I can understand that. However she then went of to say essentially, to come back next year, but that I need to start to look around for syles etc... Isn't that what I came here to do in the first place?? I mean, you can surf the internet all you like, but you're not going to know what's right for you unless you try it on...much like an engagement ring. I can understand that wedding dresses take a long time to make and that at the end of the day, they are a business, so if they aren't going make money out of you fairly swiftly, then they're more likely to turn you away. But I can't understand what the attitude problem is about. I went in there to look at styles...I don't expect to just see a dress and that'll be the one, so I want to take my time to choose what's right for me. I don't think that's an unreasonable stance to take. So, for me, I would stay away from this place. The attitude's all wrong, and it's not welcoming in the slightest. Not the best start to something that's supposed to be a happy and joyful experience...

Had the exact same experience last week... getting married in august next year (2013) and like you ushered out of the door and told to look at their website for ideas online when i only wanted a browse an idea of styles. walked round to berketex that is just located on the corner and they couldnt do enough for me it didnt matter that i didnt have an appointment they fussed around me and i ended up falling in love with my dream dress and put a deposit down straightaway to me choosing your dress is the most exciting part before the actual day and to be treated so rudly is embarrassing. There are ways of talking to people and bridal house to me need training on their customer service skills....

no dear I dont think so we are not in the habit of ushering people out of the door not true we allways ask you to make appointments if you dont have one but we cant fit people in on busy days no matter how we try if the book is full we are not perfect but certainly we are not rude.
