“Shared flat nightmare”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Bianca330 on 21/03/2015

Possibly the worst student halls ever. The walls are so thin that you can hear EVERYTHING that others in your flats are doing - I know when my flat mate switches on her light, j know when her alarm goes off in the morning, I even know when she flushes the toilet. The doors slam a ridiculous amount - heaven forbid you want to actually sleep, don't worry someone letting go of their door four flats away will keep you up! Cleanliness - right, you don't get to choose your flatmates. Communal areas can get disgusting; in most student halls cleaners are employed to clean kitchens and take out rubbish, etc. This doesn't happen here which is a huge problem if you find yourself in a flat of really unclean people! Security will always want access to your flat. We've had instances where the security guard at night has come into our flat to deliver mail at 11pm. Not great for a flat of all girls! Similarly they rarely give you 24hr notice to enter bedrooms. Tenperature - they are much too hot to actually do anything in. We've just had a huge problem where security locked all windows in the building for nearly a week. It was unbearable and I ended up going back home for the week - bedrooms were far too hot, kitchens were unbearable - you couldn't cook it was so hot. Wifi- when I first moved in, I couldn't get internet anywhere; not even from the wired port in my room; similarly there was no wifi in our kitchen (as advertised). Reception are useless and just say you should get in touch with the provider. I ended up paying about £30 for a router that makes it barely useable - really not great when all university submissions are online ( I know people who have missed deadlines trying to get the Internet to work). Plumbing - everyone I know here has had problems with bathrooms. My flatmates toilet leaked under her floor, making the entire bathroom unusable for the first term - reception only 'fixed' this in January - by retiling, not fixing the leak! Personally, my toilet flush is broken, and you have to hold it down for a few minutes before it works. Showers are okay but they don't drain quickly enough and you always have to turn the water off while the plug catches up. Washing Machines - too few washing machines for the number of people who live here, means you always have to wait - they also often break, and you don't get refunds from wash station when this happens. Reception - seem to be under the allusion that we don't know our rights as tenants; there are so many rules that we have to follow, but they dont follow any they've outline in our tenancy agreement. Also you can't actually view the tenancy agreement anywhere - I'm sure this is illegal. Area - you're getting ripped off by living in zone four. We've found cheaper houses in zone 2, which had the bonus that you don't have to pay as much for the tube. It's a ridiculous area; it's expensive because of the stadium and you still have to pay a ridiculous amount to get into uni. There's not a lot going on in wembley either- forget nights out! The best we have is tgi Fridays round the corner! Overall, my first year at uni has been pretty munched ruined by living here- I can't wait to move into a house in September!

“Do not live here!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by 1947Cochran on 31/05/2014

I stayed here for my first year at university and it was one of the worst experiences of my life! If you plan on working in your room that isn't going to happen here, the noise is unbearable and the members of staff in reception are useless at helping you if you have any queries. My flat mates and I complained on a numerous occasions and in the end wrote a letter of complaint to our university over the location of the halls. On match days it is impossible to go anyway and nearly ever other weekend both the met line and jubilee lines are down so it's impossible to leave the hell hole that is Wembley! If any students are worried that by not living in halls you'll miss out on the uni experience you are wrong, by living out in Wembley you miss out on the London experience. DO NOT MOVE INTO THESE HALLS!!!!!

“Horrible”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Carlie447 on 09/04/2014

the cleanliness of the common areas are the only good thing. The rooms are small and extremely hot in the warmer moths. The area is not bad but always very noisy and even closing the window will not prevent you from not being able to sleep. If you are someone who wants to study and not be disturbed do not rent here. The music is played in the common room most of the nights and if you live anywhere near the common room you will hear all of the noises coming from there and not sleep all night. They always need access to your room to check stuff and money gone missing in several rooms after those "check-ups". Quality of the stuff in the rooms and kitchen is horrible it keeps breaking and they don't bother to fix it. Rent is too expensive for the "quality" they provide. DO NOT RENT. Horrible place.

“Lost of item.”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Ooneee on 04/08/2013

Don't be fooled by having your own room and thought you'd be free and safe from anyone else, no. They always need to gain access to your room it is really uncomfortable. Moreover they don't tell you everytime when someone needed to come into your room. And my money just gone missing and they aren't taking any responsibilities. Little window, stuffy room. Worst accommodation so far.

“DO NOT BE FOOLED BY "BEST ACCOMODATION IN LONDON"...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 17/04/2013

1. ENORMOUS NOISE LEVEL. Apt Student Living (Students Court@ Wembley) is located near the construction site of a designers’ outlet where loud construction works are performed constantly from 8 am till 6 pm, from Monday through Saturday which make it extremely difficult for the students living in this building to enjoy quiet possession of the properties they have rented for a long period and to concentrate on their studies. Nevertheless on aptstudents website this residence hall is advertised as "the best students living in London" while no information is provided on the abovementioned construction site which makes it impossible for overseas students to make an informed decision when entering into tenancy agreements for 51 weeks rent of studios in the residence hall. At the same time, the standard tenancy agreement provides for a tenant’s liability for payment of the rent in the event of termination of this agreement before expiry of its term upon initiative of the tenant unless a replacement tenant is found by the tenant himself/herself (clause 4 of the Cancellation Policy). Given that it virtually impossible to find a replacement tenant for an accommodation which is location is so inadvertent for students, the students are trapped and cannot get out of their contracts even if they have such personal circumstances as deterioration of health due to living in permanent stress or shortage of funds. Furthermore, there is constant noise outside the east part of the building from either the construction site or Hilton hotel power generating facilities that never ceases, even at night. Brent Council has refused several times to do anything about all this noise. 2. RATHER POOR QUALITY OF FURNITURE AND EQUIPMENT. There 2 chairs in each room but either of them is very inconvenient to sit on: after a couple of hours you get your back overstrained. There is one tea table but it is so low (50 cm high) that you cannot normally use it to eat your meals because you have to bend. I had to buy my own chair and table to be able to study and eat with more or less comfort. The fridge is rather small and constantly changes the temperature within. 3. POOR PLANNING AND FIXTURES. The standard studio I live in is planned inconveniently: the desk is away from the window and you do not get enough day light when you are working at it. The shelf in the bathroom is fixed so low that you have to bend your neck very low on the side every time you wash your face. The shower cabin is too small. There is not enough space to put your shoes near the door. Double glazing does not absorb the noise from the street even when the window is completely shut.
