I was taken in by the lady a Debehams to take out a store card as this would save me 20% that day, as i have never had a store card I was a bit reluctant, but as the purchase was over £100, I thought I would take the card pay it off and then close down the account job done.
Two weeks later the statement came and I payed via the NewDay telephone number to the lady on the other end of the line, all gone through phone down, next job close the account.

2 days later I received a phone call from NEWDAY saying I had not paid and a late payment and adim charge would be applied to the account. After explaining to man I had a copy of the transaction number and the ladys name I spoke to, he would have non of it and said payment with costs would be adding an extra £27.50 to the invoice.

I phoned my bank got a mini statement showing the money had gone out and their referance number I phoned back. After 1HOUR and 50 mins some one spoke to me whom could not undrestand english and was told to ring back in a few days time as their system was down and the line went dead.

I have now received a late payment letter plus charges and letter explaining if I dont pay my details will be passed top a credit debit agency I have been to Debenhams but no one is interested in your worries, so after taking advice i was told to pay again which I just have. NEWDAY must be laughing all the way to the bank, 5 to 10 pence per min for phone call and no resolution centre so everytime you make a phone call their quids in.

I dont know at Debenhams who appointed these peole to look after customer accounts along with a number of other large comapnies but their sevice and reputaion is a disgrace

I had a parallel (sp) experience after shopping in Laura Ashley in April 2014. The major problem is that NewDay don't as yet supply a none 0800 tel. number nor do they supply email addresses.

After a lot of online research I managed to get an email addres for their CEO.
Along the way I became aware of miriad problems experienced by NewDay customers; upshot I close the account 2 hours after a Delhi staff member confirmed reciept of my payment, because I didn't want to continue my custom/association with NewDay as their current business model operates.
All was not OK though, over the next weeks I was hassled for payments/late payment fees, through corrspondence, which never included email addresses nor none 0800 tel numbers.
Within 14 hours of emailing the CEO I have had 4 contacts from NewDay, my problems have been addressed & my account is closed. I wish I'd 'gone to the top' weeks ago.

Could'nt agree more. Another point on telephone ripoff - back of statement says phoneline open til 9pm but automated answering service spends ages going through all sorts of info at 5p per min before telling you they actually closed at 7!
