“Saga and Equiniti are a joke”

★☆☆☆☆

written by daveleach on 15/09/2018

I initiated a share transfer from one Equiniti account to another Equiniti account (Saga Share Direct) on the 4th July 2018 and it is now 15th September 2018...and it is still not done. Their communications are terrible. One side of the business say it is the other side of the business causing the problem. No one takes ownership. They promise to send explanations and apologies, but never do. Absolutely awful.

“a failing website that is never fixed”

★☆☆☆☆

written by 499Bennett on 05/06/2018

I have been a customer for many years and the sharedealing which is handled by others is generally fine. However, the saga sharedealing website is dire. Sometimes you cannot login and when you can you cannot get into your messages. This is a continuing problem which never seems to get fixed. Don't be fooled by Saga - it is owned by a venture capitalist who seems to be milking the loyalty of customers, many of whom cannot move to another provider without considerable expense, for as much as they can as quickly as they can. Beware.

“Move Away !!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by JadaMyers on 27/01/2018

Unable to access the Saga share dealing site, this has been ongoing for the past few months, they know all about it but no one cares. Many customers must be in the same situation. Do as I am doing and move away from Saga as soon as possible, or if you are thinking about using them - DON'T !!!!. Just hoping that the move goes smoothly !!. Cannot believe this company is allowed to be involved in the financial sector ???. I have taken this up with the Financial Ombudsman.

“Saga Share Dealing”

★☆☆☆☆

Saga Share Dealing on windows 10 is terrible. Windows 10 has been available for some considerable time and yet Saga are unable to provide an acceptable service. They need to sort this mess out.

“One of the worst websites ever”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 08/10/2017

I thought it was my fault, my inaptitude with computers. But it seems others have had the same experience. The website is awful. It will not load in windows 10 and it is all but impossible to read your correspondence. I've stuck with it until now but I am in the process of changing to another share dealing website. Saga should be ashamed.

“Change to Equinity has been terrible ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Blevins71 on 25/01/2016

The Barclays to Equiniti changeover itself was a nightmare and i had to complain because of the poor service when PINs didn't arrive as promised. The Equiniti website is awful to use and years behind what Barclays provided previously. Many pages appear to be dead-ends and it is not obvious how you get back to your account summary. Also found some links do not appear to work. Haven't tried buying or selling yet but from other comments it might be better to change to another provider first.

“Disappointing new website”

★☆☆☆☆

written by bulleid101 on 28/10/2015

The takeover by Equiniti I believe is a definite step back from the previous excellent share dealing service, The website is a disorganised, confusing mess and the the time to access any features is slow, slow, slow. Will probably migrate to another online share dealing provider.

“Worst change ever!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Calpino on 05/09/2015

I expect that I am not alone in thinking that the change from Barclays to Eqiniti has been a huge mistake for the Saga Share Direct service. The functionality and navigation of the new website compared to the Barclays site is truly awful. It is no longer possible to see the activity and news items relating to my share portfolio by one click from the portfolio page. The list of lost functions is too long to itemise. The latest aberration is that dividend payments made into my bank account do not show the identity of the shares from which the dividend has originated. I cannot understand why Saga has made this retrograde change, if Barclays were increasing the charges for their service I am sure that there must have been better alternatives than Equiniti, it really is BAD . e

I am having problems to its a horrendous site. They got my accounts mixed up. You put an order in and somtime it does not respond and I have to delete all my history and restart Firefox to get the order to work!
When a limit order goes throught the amount on the notification mailpage is wrong and all they have said so far is update your browser!
Now looking around for an alternative I have had enough.

“Awful website”

★☆☆☆☆

written by AdityaSilva on 03/09/2015

Initially unable to access the Saga Share Direct website on Internet Explorer 11...........advised to try Google instead, with eventual success. Having logged into new Equiniti account, still unable to access from Explorer, my preferred search engine, despite them saying a few weeks later that they have now fixed Explorer access, & I have also tried to remove various histories & caches they now suggest. The website is very poor & laid out very amateurishly. Many of the left hand side navigation labels show 'no access' when you click them. Its also difficult in many windows to find a place to log out. No useful share search aids as we are used to when Barclays Stockbrokers provided the service, & its difficult to find what you want. Also no paper records at all provided, thought that was trailed. Found I was unable to print a contract note until I had saved it first. As trailed, it has the inconvenience of putting all money up front instead of being taken from my bank. I'm beginning to bitterly regret staying with Saga, and think them likely to lose many older investors who like clearly laid out records & good information. If we had been allowed website access to see what it was like before deciding, I would have moved elsewhere. I have been with Saga Share Service for many years, have a good sized share portfolio & am very used to dealing on line so am no novice. I don't think Saga thought clearly about the requirements of their target age group when they decided to make this change.

“How have the mighty fallen”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Dermot0 on 24/08/2015

I have had a share dealing account with saga for over 10 years and am also a shareholder in the company. I am therefore the type of customer whom Saga would value, I assume, and one for whom the service should be made convenient. Since the changeover to Equiniti, the whole share trading experience has taken a downward slide. The new website is virtually impossible to navigate, the information available to us is scant compared to the 'old' system, and despite the fact that an account is linked to a personal bank account it is not possible to trade without funds being immediately available. Consequently, it is necessary to wait up to 3 days for a BACS transfer, by which time the trading opportunity has long since gone. I am now seeking an alternative supplier who is more customer conscious !

“Saga rips off customers for their own gain”

★☆☆☆☆

written by LaytonThomson172 on 20/07/2015

Frankly I found the previous service provided by Barclays was good but since the transfer to Equiniti it is dreadful. Long waits on the phone. When you get through they say they will phone you back which they do not do. The transfer arrangements on my account were incorrect and the layout etc of the shares page is very poor - try finding a message box! You gain no advantage by joining this scheme - Saga do nothing on sharedealing - they just subcontract to the company which gives them the greatest financial gain but not necessarily the best service. However, once in it is expensive to get out so best never to get in in the first place. You can find cheaper and better providers and do not think that Saga has the interests of the elderly at heart - it is run for the benefit of shareholders as this transfer shows.

“Preferencial customer”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Gary1307 on 24/05/2014

As I am over 50 on Saga's mailing list have my car insurance with Saga and have been given a special investor code from Saga you would imagine its a bit of a loyalty, special consideration sort of thing. I applied for £6000 worth of shares, not a huge greedy amount, none in the name of other family members. I got £1800's worth. If that's special treatment what a waste of time.

Same boat as you, got less than a quarter of shares applied for from this special offer to customers, however saga and capita got our money straight away for the full application amount which means they have had a free gift of those amounts for now 10 days in my case. Still waiting for refund of this to show in my bank account. Have written to appropriate managing directors/ceos with a very unsatisfactory first response. How many others in same position would like to join in taking this issue further. If this is an indication of how the share dealing service is going to be it's going to be a one-sided affair - theirs - avoid them !!!

“AVOID SAGASHAREDIRECT”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 22/05/2013

WHAT AN ARROGANT ORGANISATION. GONE ARE THE DAYS THAT THE CUSTOMER IS ALWAYS RIGHT. WHO DO THEY THINK THAT THEY ARE DICTATING TO ME ,A PAYING CUSTOMER,AS TO WHAT NAME THEY WILL USE FOR MY ACCOUNT. I WILL NOT TOLERATE ANY CHANGE TO MY NAME IN ANY SHAPE OR FORMAT TO SUIT ANYONE. THEY FORGET THAT CUSTOMERS MAKE PAYDAYS POSSIBLE AND THAT I AM THE CUSTOMER AND I DON'T COME BACK. AVOID THIS OUTFIT TO WHOM I GIVE NIL POINTS FOR CUSTOMER CARE.

“I recently opened ashare dealing account with Saga,...”

☆☆☆☆☆

written by aireymary on 25/04/2009

I recently opened ashare dealing account with Saga, they offer this on the back of barclays platform, they get a cut of the commission. I have made my investment choices , bought the shares with some difficulty, when isay difficulty, i mean it can take a few hours of trying to access the trading platform., by that time the share price is somewhat different. Bad investor ? maybe; they blame the amount of traffic. i say the traffic lights dont work. 24 hours later try selling the shares. no chance,. 4 hours later still trying , profit now 00%

I found this review not helpful because...I am a long-time Saga Share Direct user and whilst I have seen some delays over recent months I am aware from the press and other investor friends that the whole industry has been swamped and therefore suffered trading delays. The user is a victim of the market, not the service.

<br/>As it just so happens, I had trouble making a trade in early June and made more of a proft as a result. Swings and roundabouts.

ref. my review. you need to access saga stock dealing site. there is a letter from the man himself about the trading site or lack of it. you dont make a comment on your own trading platform unless you have been overwhelmed with complaints.
