Sparky244's review of Hyundia HY3000SI

“Good Stats but low quality electronics.”

★★☆☆☆

written by Sparky244 on 15/11/2013

The generator seems pretty robust and comes in a handy 'suitcase' style.
The most immediate problem is the difficulty in starting the engine! However, after many starts you soon get the hang of it.
Easy to maintain and set up, with a good output rating of 2.6KW and upto 2.8kw for 30 mins MAX (Yes dont get tricked into thinking its a 3KW generator (read the small print!)).
The major downfall with this unit is its Pure Sine Wave output. After around 30 hour usage over 2 years the output suddenly went (dirty - Quasi sinewave). I put this down to its low quality Automatic Voltage Regulator (AVR).
Trying to now get spare parts, let alone anyone who can deal with them is a nightmare.
Seems the dealers in UK just want to churn them out and pocket the money.
My advice..... Go for a quality machine such as a Honda.
If i would have read this review prior to buying my gene.... I WOULDNT HAVE BOTHERED.

Hello,

We are the UK importers for Hyundai generators. I am sorry you have had problems. Please would you contact our service department and we will work with you to resolve any issues you have. We sell many thousands of these generators every year and have a very low failure rate. We also keep all spare parts in stock, so can supply any part if required.
