Hurley267's review of Priestfield Stadium (KRBS), Gillingham

“Not for neutrals”

★★☆☆☆

written by Hurley267 on 02/01/2016

Easy to get to from central London.

Pre match music was great (dance tunes) mk & zhu.

Was in the home end as a neutral. Picked Gordon road end. Brought tickets on the day for the "gold area" cheaper tickets are available (silver & bronze). Found ticket office quiet at around 13:15 match day. Good service.

Told to enter turnstiles 26-31. Was surprised whilst trying to find my seat as, at first, I found myself behind the goal. I later found out both stands (Gordon & Rainham) are accessible via same turnstiles. I asked a steward why and was told it was due to bars and catering facilities. Not just being a security risk by doing this it is an inconvenience for fans if they nead to use facilities during the game as the whole stadium can see you walk round the edge of the pitch. Not much room for privacy.

It is really the fans that let this ground Dow. The people behind me kept on kicking me and I overheard "######## Yorkshire####" I live a long way from Yorkshire and if they are going to reject all northern ascents I cannot see (if promoted) the fan base growing.

It's a real shame to feel you need to leave at half time due to risks of your own security. My extended family live in Kent and it was new year. The club were accepting a bigger fan base but the locals seem not to welcome support from the wider spectrum
