I own a 106 1.4 xsi, after reading all these reviews I'm not sure we are talking about the same car. It revs hard but does not. Have the speed to match it. My girlfriends 1.8 diesel focus was pulling away from it today. Really poor on fuel. Love the looks and the way it feels to drive but after hearing about how nippy they are before I bought it then driving it I found it pretty much same as any other 1400 . Pretty slow if you ask me

These cars are a good cheapmans sports car! They handle like go-carts on rails, very responsive steering, and very powerful engines yet still maintain fairly good fuel economy. I ' d recommend this car as a great substitute for more expensive to own and run sports cars like Audi ' s and beamers etc.

Used everyday and its great to know every morning your going to be driving a great little car giving you loads of fun on the way to work and then again on the way home. I still find it hard to believe that this little 1.4 xsi has only 100 bhp as standard. if you ever get the chance to own one of these or even better by one I would take it. In my veiw it puts most other 1.4 cars to shame like the Nova.

The best decision I ever made was buying a Peugeot 106 XSi 1.4. I definitely recommend it to anyone!

The is a brilliant car it my first car and I love it. It puts a smile on my face when I push the throttle down, and it is reliable and fast for a little car. I suggest you buy one I have beat a lot of fast cars because they just think its a slow 1.1!

I'm pleased with the performance of my Peugeot 106 1.4 XSi, even after it's clocked up 106,000 miles, burnt off a 1.8 Ford Focus. In the garage at the moment and I can't wait to get it back! Definitely go buy one but take someone who knows a lot about cars. I bought it for £800 and have spent £500 on it to get it in mint excellent condition. It's a dream car!

If you are young go out and buy a Peugeot 106 1.4 XSi and forget the insurance it's worth the money for the memories of owning one. Bin man or banker your gonna love it!

I'm now on my second Peugeot 106 1.4 XSi as you can't beat the original pocket rocket. First XSi was slightly modified (filter,Lowered,4 Branch pipe) and never had any problems until 75000 miles then intermittent engine problem forced me to sell it. Now on second unmodified XSi and runs a dream with 97000 on clock. Handles more or less just as well but seems less responsive than the modified version. All in all very good car for year.

I bought a Peugeot 106 92 black 1.4 xsi off ebay for just £700. It has done 117k miles and still drives like a dream. The handling is SUPERB! The speed is impressive for a 1.4, 100bhp standard! leaves 2.0 litre Vectras!!

Drive this Peugeot 106 1.4 XSi car around town or with any mechanical sympathy and it felt awful. Throttle response was woolly, the idle erratic and bottom end and midrange pull simply wasn't part of the equation. Let the revs build however and it changed. The clattery engine note smoothed out, the exhaust note took on a lovely deep growl and at 5,000 RPM the engine took off, snarling to the limiter at 7,500 with shove that you just wouldn't expect from a 1.4.

The chassis was much the same. It had a surprisingly fidgety ride for a Peugeot, and didn't cope with big bumps very well at all. That said, at speed on a B-road it felt just brilliant. Body control was impeccable, you could feel surface and grip changes through your finger tips, and barrelling into a corner and snapping the throttle shut would induce a lovely, lairy tailslide. Thanks to the sharp steering and balance of the chassis, was an utter joy to catch and control, and never got out of hand.

People who like today's superminis will hate it. It's noisy, crude, rattly and in terms of feel at least, not that quick. People who hate today's superminis however will love it. Light, agile, a chassis set up very much for fun rather than safety (oh, how I miss that!), and total driver dependance.

Don't let the cheap and nasty interior put you off - the basic mechanicals are both tough and reliable. Despite sustained hard use, I rarely even had to top up the oil, and not a single non-service fault arose in the two years we had it. It had 91k on the clock when sold, still went like a rocket, and still handled superbly.

The 1360cc TU series engine is simple and easy to service, with even "major" service jobs like setting valve clearances a doddle for anyone with a Haynes manual and an ounce of mechanical common sense. The only job I paid for was a timing belt change simply because a local Peugeot specialist were doing it "all in" for £85.

I have recently bought a Peugeot 106 1.4 XSi off a bloke off of ebay for £300, it was a bargain. Its blue. Because im to young I can't drive it properly yet, but its in my garage and im modifying it like mad.
Just bought k&n air filter,5 inch magnex exaust it purrs. I also bought a momo steering wheel and 15 inch momo alloys and lowerd the car 50mm. Im an apprentice mechanic, I fitted everything myself. Cant wait to pass my test so I can drive the damn thing properly. Anyone got any suggestions what I should do next.

I've tuned my Peugeot 106 1.4 XSi to 120bhp and it shifts. But they are however unreliable (1.4 models) but great fun to drive and relitivly easy to modifiy.

I have an L reg metallic blue Peugeot 106 xsi 1.4 which I purchased for less than £1000 at an auction. I was looking to buy a slightly bigger car at the time, but this baby just looked so cute. It is absolutely spotless inside and out and looks almost brand new even though it is 10 years old. I was amazed that I left behind a Golf GTI and a souped up Vauxhall Corsa at the lights the other day, I was grinning ear to ear at the looks I got from the occupants of the other cars at the next set of lights.
As standard, the car looks very sporty, I am thinking of putting some wider wheels on it. I just like the way it growls when you put your foot on the accelerator. The ride is a bit bumpy, might be my shocks whih I will possibly change in the nearest future and possibly a few functional gadgets for the inside and a nice stereo (the one in it at the moment doesn't work!!! :-( . It is a proper sports car and handles well round corners.

I have a Peugeot 106 xsi 1.4 N-reg diablo red at 105 Bhp standard, extras include full magnex exhaust, K&N filter, Ecotek filter, momo steering wheel and gearknock, strut brace, vented front brake discs, etc, good throttle response, good cornering, great torque at around 4500rpm, excellant car, cheaper insurance than a GTI! With only around 25bhp standard less, for todays price for an XSI less than £2600, it's a bargin with comparsion to a 'typical' boy racer Citreon VTR which has 95bhp standard.
