How can a soup with 1% oxtail, 4% beef be described as Oxtail Soup? Tastes more like a peppery, watery tomato soup. The meat in it, if you can find it, is not much bigger than a grain of salt. What has happened to this once-great brand?

I used to love this soup and when you emptied the can it came out thick. Now it's like emptying a can of water into the pan.Taste is acidic now, emptied the other cans down sink.last time I'm buying this

As the title suggests once a thick wholesome soup is now thin and watery.. I noticed this recently (March 23). What's going on, this is premium brand and isn't cheap. While it tastes similar it dripps off the spoon in an unsatisfing way, I'm not going to be buying any more, I'll be trying other brands to see if I can find one I like.At the moment I can only give it 3 stars when one was 5

I was craving Heinz Oxtail Soup and bought myself a tin. The first thing I noticed was that it was bright orange almost the colour of Heinz tomato soup. Where was the dark brown beefy soup that I needed to eat? The next thing was the consistency it was very watery and resembled dishwater. It looked and tasted very unappetising. The taste was mainly tomato not surprising due to the colour and not at all beefy. There was large chunks of carrot in it which was not expected and a very unpleasant aftertaste.Save your money and don’t buy this soup it’s horrible. Please bring back the original recipe which actually tasted of oxtail as this soup is definitely NOT what it says on the tin! I would have actually gave it NO stars as it is that horrible.

I haven’t bought any Oxtail Soup for years simply because I usually make my own, I just fancied some with bread and butter and a dash of cream stirred in. What a disappointment, It tasted just like tomato soup and I don’t like tomato soup. I had to add a good dash of salt and pepper to make it taste less sweet and insipid. At 95p for a can in Tesco I won’t buy another in a hurry. Campbell’s condensed used to do a lovely one but I’ve not spotted any lately.

I have just tasted this soup for the first time in a few years. It is nothing like the original oxtail soup. This is more like a tomato soup with a few bits of beef thrown in. I question how a soup can be labelled oxtail when it is made with a far larger percentage of tomatoes to beef. 18% tomatoes with only 4% beef and of that only 1% oxtails does not constitute oxtail soup in my opinion. I will not recommend this soup and probably won’t buy again until the recipe is changed back to the original.

The new Heinz Oxtail soup recipe is in no way shape or form comparible to original recipe. I am old enough to know. The current version tastes of fermented onions with black pepper. There is no depth, no oxtail meat no complex stock flavour. It was a vaccuous brown viscose liquid with nothing to say to your taste buds other than- fooled you! What a shame. There is integrity in creating stock/broth with actual oxtail. The flavour achieved from these bones & meat are unique. Hence the love of original recipe. Go back to what you know....not what you think you know. You have original recipes, they are yours. Use them. Please.

I was looking forward to the oxtail soup which I had got in for the "lockdown" and set up my special brunch with toast and butter. How disappointing to find its nothing like the traditional type. Nowhere on the tin does it say beware, we have changed the recipe and you will find it it's nowhere near as nice as it was. What a swizz! I won't be buying this stuff again. I got some Mulligatawny too recently which I haven't opened yet. I wonder if this is similarly debased .

For many years I have been faithful to Heinz but sadly not anymore. This soup used to be full of body with a delicious taste. Now it is like eating coloured water and is absolutely disgusting. There are more pieces of carrot in it than so called oxtail. They might as well call it Vegetable with an almost oxtail taste. Let me say that this is not the only flavour in their range that is extremely thin watery and disgusting, try chicken at your peril. I will never buy a tin of Heinz soup in any flavour again in my life and will pass my findings onto all of my friends. Before purchasing I wish I had read the reviews but I thought Heinz were a long established trustworthy company with a reputation for quality, how wrong can one be?

Many years ago I thought Baxter's Royal Game was the pinnacle of soups; so when I saw an offer of the soup at my local supermarket discounted from £1.11 to 75p I thought I'm going to have a couple of those. What a mistake! It is foul, tasteless and has as much 'body' as diluted water (if such a thing could exist. It would seem from these reviews that the 'new recipe' was introduced round about 2006. Isn't this coincidental, it was the time that one man left the company and a woman took over. Well, you have a complete hash of the product and it no wonder that you lost over a million in profits at that time.

This soup has changed beyond recognition. There is no oxtail flavour, it is bland and watery. Will never buy this brand again. Very disappointing.

I don't like this at all it doesn't even taste meaty. You've totally spoiled what used to be one of my favourite flavours of soup. It tastes more like tomato soup with carrots added. I will not be buying it again nor recommending it to my friends or family

Oh Heinz what have you done to Oxtail soup? Used to love this, but had a tin today and it is nothing like it used to be. Where are the oxtail chunks? Why are there carrots in it and why is it soo watery. Will try another brand next time. Disappointed.

My wife loves this Oxtail Soup and eats it frequently. I also like it but don't have it so often. I recently purchased 4 cans from Asda then 2 weeks later purchased 6 more. It appears they changed the recipe. Its quite different. More watery and less meaty. Like I cheaper bottom range brand. This corresponds to a price drop from 75p a tin to 50p a tin. I think its likely that Heinz is trying to peg back prices because they are scared stiff of competition. They think the only way to compete is to keep prices low by changing the recipe to save money. Its so bad, we won't be buying this brand anymore. This cost cutting by changing recipes isn't new. Marmite, tiptop etc all have tried it. NOT GOOD !

Had Heinz oxtail soup recently and was very let down. I remember it years ago, it was dark, rich and unctious. Its not anymore, why is it been made differently now? Money saving? Changed to Baxters, more of an old fashioned Oxtail soup, much nicer.

£5 for 3 cans I wouldn't class that as value for money, and there is more carrot than soup, they should change the name to carrot soup.
Ps I detest carrots. That's my opinion.
