So I looked at the papers for the house I bought which included solar panels installed by yours truly. Now I wanted to check on the status of the warranty etc but lo and behold this company has literally disappeared. I have a pigeon infestation which I will need to deal with but I needed to check with this company if it would affect the warranty etc...turns out it won't make a difference as they are no longer trading.

I'm interested to read a 2018 review, as I have Staybrite solar panels and have been unable to contact them as I have been led to believe that the company has gone into administration some considerable time ago....

I can't complain about the process as I wanted to have solar panels. At the time I was without the funds to have it installed. The time and tidiness of the whole deal was fine. I agree that their sales pitch is far too long. The main issue is their 10 years payment plan with a ridiculous 9.9% APR. NEVER Take it as you will be paying forever and the amount never goes down. They also tried to oversell insurance for the panels. Just say no as your home insurance will cover solar panels as well (Check with he insurance) as they are now part of the building.

I had panels fitted and they don't generate what it says on the mcs certificate instead of just paying me the difference I have to be passed from person to person having engineers come out and check them. I'm fed up now this has been going on for almost 6 weeks I will be complaining to head office though they proberbly won't be any good as they haven't been helpful on the phone so far, i'm looking into who else I can complain too. I wish I hadn't had them fitted they don't even pay for themselves each month like we were told they would.

My ageing Mother was approached by a Stay Brite door to door salesman and she ended up spending £6000 on the panels. She was told she had a warranty. They stopped working after 8 months and this was reported to the company. They said it was rodents which chewed through the cable and that wasn't covered, even though the company claims to have rodent cages to cover this problem. We sent a piece of the cable to a vet to check for rodent saliva and none was found. We did ask for cages and they said they have cages. So, if they are aware this is problem then why not fit them too? Long story short....they are not doing anything about this and only said they will replace the cable for a further £3000. My Mother is 74 and has suffered from incredible stress from this ordeal. I am having to travel from abroad to sort this matter out. We are heading into a legal battle with this company who has taken advantage of an elderly woman. Would not recommend to anyone.

staybritesolar has a lot to learn about customer service it would be nice if there was a little contact. After a year of the panels being installed the inverter packed up the electrician came and shut the system down and I was told the inverter was no good nobody botterd to call to let us know what was happening or when it who be fixed.I have had to do all the calls to staybritesolar so as well as being without the so called free electric I am also having to pay for calls to the company to find out when my panels will be working again so far 7 days with no fix date

Unlike other reviews on here, although the salesman spent over 2hrs at our first meeting, he wasn't at all pushy, in fact he was just the opposite, as well as being a very amiable guy, he clearly explained everything that we needed to know (more than once), so as to allow us to make a decision on purchasing. The subsequent visit by a surveyor and installation of system was all carried out on time and in a very professional manner. I also received all of the paperwork required to apply for Feed In Tariff payments and had no problems with setting up an account to do so. Am now happily creating sustainable energy to use and getting paid for doing so. System should pay for itself in approx 7yrs.

I can second that . I have had the system now for a year and feel it better than money in the bank a good pension increase that is how I look at it. I have had £403 back in feed-in tariff this first year with 12 panels and the worst aspect in my area you would think, I get the sun in the morning at the back of my house and the panels are on the front of the house. The INVERTER is recording from early according to the time of year. My record was 19 points on my generating meter on 17 June 2015

Hi,
Very interested to read your review and the fact that your system is performing well.
Can I ask is the roof South facing with the panels fitted, are you on 14p per kWh generated or more?
written by roghawk on 07/08/2015
This firm have been great to deal with from the first contact. They have done everything they promised on time and well. We are now generating our own electricity. I had to phone them to help me with the feed in form for Eon and they were really helpful. They also cleaned up after the job. I can't think of any negative comments at all. Very unusual service these days.

Had a staybrite solar rep for a quote on Monday evening for a supposedly 40 min slot 2 1/2 hours later he finally left using the exact method of sale as mentioned in other reviews ie: 2 extra free panels if signed up for now or get paid for reccomendations.offered 10 panels with an income over 20 years of £13,235 for a cost of £8300 plus £90 a year insurance with the cost covered by a loan over 10 years at 9.9% supplied by them through rbs.now the cost of this loan over 10 years works out at £13,107!! but would take 20 years to pay for itself.needless to say I did not take the offer up so cannot comment on their workmanship or service only their sales technique.please be wary & do not sign up for anything without investigating thoroughly as solar is a big investment over a long period

Sounds just like my experience today though I signed up as it was clear he was not going to leave until I did. He stayed for 3 1/4 hours and it would have been obvious that I needed to give my severely disabled husband his dinner & medication. I asked to think about it as I had heard enough so he stood up & went over it all again. There was a lot of waffle & side tracking & I was talked at rather than allowing me to ask questions. I will be cancelling the cheque and contract in the morning.

After thinking about it for ages we decided to find out more and responded to some sales information. The rep. took great pains to make sure the information was correct and clear, even checking with HQ. The fitting was prompt and the fitters great. They were polite, friendly and left absolutely no mess. We just had to show them where the loft hatch and ladder was and supply a couple of cups of coffee :). I like the look of these panels as they do not have the bright metal frames and so blend in a bit better than some. When I was stuck filling in the form for my electricity supplier Staybrite helped and guided me through. I love checking the meter to see how much electricity we have generated.

The actual installation was carried out with the minimum of fuss both by the panel installers and the electrician (only his second solar installation)who had a tricky job as he had not been advised correctly by the surveyor as to the layout of the roof. He solved the problem perfectly with a bit of lateral thinking. The panels fit very neatly on the roof and don't look at all ugly. The initial interview, however, was interminable - again a new recruit but one who needs to practice just saying what needs to be said and not elaborating ad nauseam. After 3.5 hours I couldn't take any more.My head was reeling. Subsequently, the company had a bit of difficulty getting round the fact that the house with the panels wasn't lived in all the time and that therefore contact had to be via another address but we got there in the end. Linking up with the electricity company was very straightforward. I can't say I expect to make a great deal out of the installation but I believe in investing in renewables and making the most of what natural energy is available and I didn't think the price was excessive.

The salesman made many absurd claims for the panels . He made strenuous efforts to get me to sign up immediately . I refused , saying that I needed to do some research first , at which point the salesman's manner abruptly changed from matey and charming to contemptuous and dismissive. I am going to report him to the Citizens Advice Bureau . Subsequently , I had panels installed by a local firm , with a 10 year insurance backed guarantee, costing £3.7k , instead of the £6.7k quoted by Staybrite.

I would not normally get myself involved in reviews, but after reading the rubbish that the last two have written i can't help it they obviously work at the company. I had a visit from a staybrite rep who i will say was very good and explained it well. But the rep offered me a 2 free panels to sign up today which i found a complete disgrace ( the rep even phoned somebody to see if they could offer it me) I said no thanks i want to think about but i felt £11k was alot of money and some insurance on top of that £90 a year. so i declined then the rep said i was unable to keep the 2 free panels available so i lost them so the price went up!!!! That was the end of it for me BUT NO 3 DAYS LATER I GOT A CALL FROM A COMPANY OFFERING ME IT AT A CHEAPER PRICE. What a complete joke avoid this company i reckon or wait for a few days and get it cheaper.

I kept putting off having solar panals on the roof, however the people at Staybrite Solar were very helpfull and not pushing in there approach. The day of fitting was windy and all the men on site worked well together. everthing was clean and tidy and it was good to see the units were working before thet departed. Followup paperwork was prompt and the help in filling in the paperwork for the energy supplier was appreciated. Now looking forward to the generated results adding to my income.

Staybrite Solar Panel Installation. Having considered installing solar panels for a few years we finally took the plunge in April 2015. The only regret we have is not doing it sooner. I never realised that you get paid for the energy you produce and use yourself, a real win win. The installation staff and electricians (I felt they were craftsmen and took pride in their work many thanks) were polite, tidy and did a very neat job. They are very knowledgeable about the panels and all too happy to talk about them. A very tidy professional installation all round. Installation was complete in one day. The MCS certificate arrived very quickly and our fit application is sent off. The panels have performed very well in the recent sunny conditions (we have already generated over 20Kw in a single day twice) but what has impressed us the most is the level of generation on cloudy dull days. The optimisers seem to be doing their jobs. If I were to have solar panels installed again the first phone call I would make would be to staybrite. If you are thinking of having solar panels installed, stop thinking and do it.

THE TRUTH ABOUT THIS COMPANY: Absolutely terrible company who will RIP YOU OFF. They say that the whole process and solar panels cost you only £100. This is a complete lie even if they tell you that it is a 'government scheme'. You won't make your money back for at least 30 years, which is why they are you if you are under 75 years of age. Every person you speak to, either on the phone or the person who cold calls you to book you in for an appointment doesn't tell you any figures except the £100. Nowhere on the website does it tell you that it will cost you £25000 (twenty-five thousand five hundred) for the whole set up. I know for a fact that solar panels costs about £6000 for the cheapest ones. Being a salesperson is all about good first impressions. The salesperson who came to my address was 20 minutes late and pulled up outside my address very shoddily and tried to invite themselves into my house without being asked. "it'scold outside, I'll just step in". Do not let any salesperson enter your home without your permission and DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY for solar panels.
Written on: 31/03/2015
No offence but I think this is your own misunderstanding and your own interpretation rather than them ripping you off. They carry out a free assessment on your home to make sure it is viable and should you decide to go ahead and ONLY if you go ahead you pay 100 towards the finance. The money you earn for producing your own electricity is called the FIT feed in tariff and this is government backed... so this is NOT a lie.
It is impossible to give anyone figures over the phone. The assessment has to be carried out on the property and a SAP calculation has to be carried out.
Please people do not jump on thing you do not understand!

Absolute nonsense. Have had our panels for exactly a year, and they have performed well in excess of the predicted number of units generated. Really happy with our system from Staybrite.

Hi,
Thank you for providing your feedback for Staybrite Solar.
We would like to apologise that your experience with us has been below the high standards that we set for all of our customers. Our latest independently audited Customer Questionnaire revealed that 99% of our customers would recommend us to friends and family - of which we are very proud of.
We offer many different payment options, and one of these is a minimal customer contribution of £100, acting as the deposit on a low rate finance agreement arranged through a third party. All of our literature states the total cost of your own individual system, including potential revenue for your Feed In Tariff and the amount of years to payback against the cost of the installation so that it is clear the cost of the investment you will be taking before committing to a Solar PV system.
If this has not been explained to your correctly then please allow us to apologise and we would like to look into this further for training purposes, alongside our consultant being late to your home for his appointment.
Please can I ask that you contact us via email quoting ReviewCentre27022015 with your contact details. We are unable to publish this here but it can be found on our website.
We trust this is acceptable.

The whole process was simple quick and straight forward. From order to installation was excellent, I even had to delay them slightly as other work was going on in the house. The installation team were polite and after talking through what they were going to do and they promptly got on with it. The electrician was brilliant, a tidy worker and no cables to be seen. Honestly recommended

Had my panels put up on Monday. The installation guys took about 4 hours and left zero mess. Its early days as far as savings go but so far the company goes they have done exactly what they said from start to finish. The sales guy did say the paperwork would be a bit tricky and it was, but the chap that came and saw us was kind enough to come back round on Tuesday to fill it in for us. So far im most impressed with how they look on the roof. It is so neat and tidy and just black panels no ugly silver things from China (no offence to ppl who have them intended) Anyway so far so good. I would definitely recommend this company if your thinking about solar.
