I have had Genius Energy Solar Panels since February 2014. My electricity bills have reduced but the overall financial benefits fall short of those quoted by Genius Energy Limited. Today, 18 February 2016, I attempted to contact Genius Energy by telephone and e mail all to no avail. I next visited their offices in Solihull only to find that the offices are empty with no sign of the Company. I am now very concerned about the future maintenance of the system and also the validity of the waranty on the panels etc. I will now review the performance of the system installed and consider what action I should now take.

From the initial no obligation consultation all involved were polite and professional at all times, did not feel pressured and all my questions were answered, and I had a fair few. Installation date and time agreed were kept too as promised, scaffolding went up the day before along with panels and all associated equipment. The fitters arrived early the next morning as agreed shortly followed by the electricians, works were explained positioning of the equipment was agreed with me prior to the work starting, system and how it works explained, fitters were friendly and approachable, they had completed by midday, great. They left the place as they found it cleaned up after themselves as they went along. The scaffolding was removed first thing the next working day. I have no complaints, I can sincerely say that my experience was a good one.

I had prevesly looked into solar power on line but didn’t make any decision to proceed. So after answering a cold call on my mobile I decided why not and arranged an appointment for the Genius Energy rep to call on me. The appointment went great with all my questions answered thoroughly and once he told me of the possibly savings I could make I decided this is the way to go. I’m totally reliant on electricity, no gas, with bills of around £3,000 a year so the potently savings of hundreds of pounds a year is most welcome. After all the surveys were complete and my acceptance into the government’s scheme I signed up for an installation. The installation went very well with the Engineers being very professional and completing the job in just a day. Very good customer service I was kept informed of proceedings up to and after the installation. I have no hesitation in recommending Genius Energy a very professional and helpful company.

The sales man & survey man seem to know their jobs.The installation team were very efficient although a phone call from the scaffolders would have been appreciated on removal day.The electrician who connected everything together worked very hard all day long. Obviously it is now a matter of time to see if all this hard work lives up to my expectations provided by your sales team.

Was toying on the idea of solar panels, then genius Energy turned up. I don't use much electric so i should gane. Time will tell.

Had done a lot of research about solar panels before the first Genus advisor visit so we're ready armed with questions. Was dreading the presentation thinking that it would take hours and we would have to throw them out the door. The advisor was very polite and made us feel at ease. Even when my husband gave him a hard time with one question after another. Presentation was very clear and easy to understand even for people like me who hadn't got a clue. Had regular phone contact and was kept informed every step of the way, and it was always the same advisor. This became a standing joke but certainly makes the experience better when you know the voice on the end of the phone. Scaffolders arrived first, followed by electrician and fitters and all were polite and approachable and competent tradesmen. Every effort was made to ensure we were satisfied with the work carried out. We can honestly say that an experience we were somewhat dreading turned out to be quite pleasurable and involved very little effort from ourselves in the whole process. Thank you Genus.

They are so helpful when you ring, they never keep me waiting for long. I rang just a few days before Christmas and they were able to give me a full update as I had no idea how to give a meter reading. They sent me a letter to say my solar panels would be cleaned free of cost. The cleaner was ever so kind! They gave lots of information packages to read, no hidden charges and excellent customer service. My bills are now next to nothing, I am so glad I got my solar panels fitted in, I should of done so a long time ago!

My panels were installed in the summer of 2015 and I have been really pleased with the performance. Everyone is really helpful, both in the office and field workers. My recent panel clean was carried out without any fuss and without me even needing to be there. The representative who called to see me initially was friendly and explained everything very clearly. My only problem has been getting through on the telephone - I guess they are so busy, it's not always possible to speak to someone when you need to .. otherwise this would undoubtedly be a 5* review.

it is a good idea to install solar panel to your house as they do reduce your energy bills. plus you get some money back every quarter. but do remember the longer you have them the more you save, its not just for now its for as long as the sun keeps shining.

Genius Energy are one of those rare examples of a cold call you're happy you answered. I had a breif knowledge of government renewable energy incentives but they were very helpful in filling in the gaps in my knowledge and explaining how they could help lower my bills and see a bit of return for the energy I generated. Installation was on schedule and the system is now running better than expected. They had a few issues in tailoring the service to my antiquated system but regardless of those few problems the system is a great benefit. I recommend having a word with one of their salesmen to see if it would be any use to you.

The phone staff where great keeping me up to date with pre appointment phone calls the scafolders arrived on time and errected it with no damage to my property the fitting staff did a good job keeping the disruption to a minimum the electricians where great even managing to conect to my boiler when the thermostat had been wired in a none standard way so all in all i would have to say dealing with Genius energy was a pleasent experiance.

From the very start of our solar panel inquiry to every aspect of our install and after care genius energy have been brilliant. It was explained to us at the very start what energy saving items would suit our home. Scaffolding was delivered along with all the panels and units, wiring, led bulbs etc. Too much to mention. The friendly scafolders came closely followed by electricians and roofers. They did a good neat job and I was really pleased that they bonded our outside gas Meter which brought everything up to current standards. After the install was complex a carpenter made a cupboard for the new meters. We were that impressed we had Genius fit us a new consumer unit at a good price. I would definitely recommend Genius Energy.

In hindsight, we should have shopped around first and gathered as much information and pricing details as possible before signing up. There was a bit of 'pressure selling' encountered but we are both naive and had given our consent.Also, we should have explored our funding options. Then the other scope included, ie, bulb installation. This one I could procure and install myself without problem. Anyway, with solar panels now installed, we are producing energy and saving on our electricity bill. That's the best part. As to after sales service, there is a little matter we are not very happy about. But this we could leave behind not fully resolved. Overall, we are happy. Not 'jumping up and down' happy.

After having a home visit, we decided to go ahead with the Solar panel installation with Genius Energy. Everything went to the timescales provided with a minimum disruption as possible. Every stage of the install was smooth and as promised.we also had the energy lightbulbs, power regulator installed as part of their comprehensive package. Just been 14 months since the install but making great savings with our energy bills as well as generating a regular quarterly income with FIT payments. This is a long term investment and very pleased with the promised benefits. The sales colleague was very thorough with the stages of the install and calculated potential savings.in fact we have to date achieved 105% of the estimated figures. We would not have hesitation in recommending Genius Energy to anyone looking for Solar Panels. In fact a work colleague has already had Genius Energy install the system at his property. Excellent communications throughout the process. We knew exactly what was happening at every stage. Thank you to everyone at Genius Energy.

I was referred by a friend, the company's analyst that visited my property to speak to me and my husband was brilliant. He was knowledgeable about how the system works. His explanation of how the solar panel system works was great, but my concern was the benefit of the solar panel system is more evident after couple of years of the installation, however, this was corrected, as you could notice more benefit if you stick to doing all you daily routines before 16.00 hours. Sounds great but difficult to achieve at time. More so the idea that i am currently assisting in generating energy to be used by other family sounds great. The good thing about the solar panel system is that it adds value to the property in the long run. I find the system an awesome one as i know how much energy i generate and use daily with the help of the OWL Intuition. The employees from the analyst, to the people that carried out the installation and the customer service staff have got good interpersonal relationship which i think was excellent.

I heard about this company from a friend. When i called them up they told me i was eligible to have them installed. Told by the salesmen that it was totally free. One month later after the installation i suddenly got bills of £249.99 a month and after further research found out that i had a £22,000 loan at an interest rate of 43%, to install solar panels that were meant to be totally free. After looking at my roof 2 months later i found 14 pigeons burrowing under my roof, which has since cost me £500 to fix and not long later the inverter installed by genius began a fire in my cellar causing great damage. After ringing up to have them removed i was told that the system was 'totally safe' even though genius engineers confirmed it was 'old' and 'not fit for purpose.' Highly advice anyone looking to purchase this system not to as it is too expensive and does not produce anywhere near as much as genius claim. Furthermore it is very likely that you will have an inverter problem causing health and safety risks to you your family and your home. Dont do it

All you people have been missold the solar panels. Genius salesman are liars and we the innocent members of the public are being promised saving returns which they know will never happen leaving us in thousands of pounds of debt. So be warned say no to Genius Solar panels this is from an innocent member of the public who is regretting taking out solar panels with Genius Energy and is in debt now for the next 13 years knowing he will be paying out his hard earned money of his own pocket and not see the returns Genius Energy salesmen promise.

Had installed a 4kw on a south facing roof 18 months . Although the installation went ok I am very dissapointed in the huge lack of returns that where promised. Looking at my figures I should have been breaking even by now, but still costing me a lot. When I look closer at the figures I can see why, they are assuming massive savings on gas optimisation, Electric optimisation and the ongoing increases to my energy costs have been massively over emphasised which means in shows a hugely optmistic saving. I talked to genius energy about my lack of savings as detailed in the paperwork the sales agent gave me and they are not interested. Its like buying a car from a 2nd hand trader, buyer beware. Very upset.

I am in the same predicament as yourself. Go on the which? Consumer Rights site and you will find useful information about missold solar panels and advises what action you can take. Like yourself I was told the income generation from the solar panels would cover the repayments and in the last 10 months I have received £360 in FIT payments. Now if that is not being lied to and duped into by the salesman who exaggerated the performance figures and income generation for the solar panel system.

Installed about 6 months ago, didnt realise until after that I had bought way too expensive. That that companies in this market had to be fair and transparent. Paid £13k for a 4kw system with LED's for a 3 bed house and a device that supposed to reduce energy coming in. Didnt work for me. Tried to talk to Genius about being over charged. Got nowhere. Buyer Beware. Real shame because the sales guy who came to my house was a really nice guy and sounded as if he really believed in the product.

I've used genius energy for solar panels. BIGGEST mistake ever made. I've discovered they are more than £4000 pound more expensive than other solar companies I have contacted since. Totally my own fault. The sales rep they sent was a nice man that convinced me I would benefit a lot more than i actually am. He told me it would work out at app. £30000 over 30 years but the deal from the government is over 20 years. To sum them up JOKERS. Not telling customers what they really need to know, just telling customers what they need to make a sale.

Google consumer reclaims and ring them and tell them you were missold solar panels. I think all customers who have been missold need to take Genius energy to court.

I had one of the actual Genius Energy Managers sell to me last summer. They promised that I would have virtually nothing to pay because the money from energy savings and the Government would cover it. Not only that but I would also profit to more than £30,000 over the lifetime. It has cost me a fortune, and my wife is really upset with me , we can no longer afford to go on a family holiday and my wife cries because of this. I have have been told I can do nothing becuase the figures given to me where either verbal by the manager or are not guaranteed as stated in the small print. Please think twice and always get three quotes and do not feel pressure to make decision straight away on night.

Hi You have probably sorted your problem by now, but I have the same issue with Genius and I feel as this was/is a government initiative they should shoulder some responsibility poor due diligence on offering companies like genius contracts.
Any how you have to refer to your manufacturers warranty they will cover the repair costs.

Yes my panels have stopped working (well the control panel has) and we need an engineer so have been trying to trace them. Any information about engineers would be most appreciated. Yes, lets try to trace the CEO down and hold him accountable!

I have heard from someone in the Solar Panel industry that the former CEO of Genius has started up under another name! Perhaps we should all research to try to find him and address the issues of insurance/maintenance etc???
