“HTC dropped OS support for this”

Written on: 21/11/2012 by AngusMcGonagle (2 reviews written)

Bought this phone. Six months later HTC announce that there will be no further releases of the operating system supported. This happened to the last phone I bought that was an HTC. Otherwise, this has generally been a good phone for the money. Performance is adequate and it struggles at times. Pity HTC don't seem to support their customers. (read more)

HTC One V

The HTC One V has an average of 4 stars of out five across the web with most users finding it a great phone for the price. TechRadar like the design of the handset calling it aesthetically pleasing with the phone itself delivering a pleasant user experience.

The 5MP camera on-board is impressive and they liked the responsive 3.7 inch screen. The HTC One V runs on Android's Ice Cream Sandwich operating system making it a good choice for Android lovers.

Comparable in size to the iPhone 4, the One V is praised by ExpertReviews as being of a great build quality with it's 3.7 inch screen but suffers from slow browsing unless viewing a mobile version of a site. It only has 512MB and the entry level version has 4GB of internal storage that can be upped using a microSD card.

PCAdvisor cites it's good battery life and great screen resolution as positives but think it lacks a little connectivity although it does feature Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, a microUSB and 3.5mm audio jack.

Over at TrustedReviews the HTC One V is hailed as having a cute design and being an exciting mid-range mobile. They like that you can easily upgrade to this phone as it uses a standard full size SIM and not a micro and note that the phone features a nice touch by including a slim LED strip that changes colour when you have a notification. Overall a fairly decent phone for the price and many sites recommend going for a pre-owned model to save even more cash.
