The BlackBerry 9790 is another hybrid smartphone from RIM featuring not only their trademark Qwerty keyboard but also a touchscreen. Average star ratings are between 3 and 4 stars out of 5 making this phone worth a look if you like using a BlackBerry.
TechRader seem fairly impressed with the BlackBerry Bold 9790 citing the generous 8GB memory, sleek design and easy to use keyboard as key features. Set up is simple as is syncing the phone to iTunes.
However they don't appear keen on the lack of media buttons nor the small touchscreen which some consumers might find lacking compared with other smartphones.
As with all BlackBerry phones, the ability to view a combination of email, SMS and instant messages is seen as a win by Cnet who compare the 9790 to the 9900 Bold saying that it has all the same functionality but in a smaller package. It still features BlackBerry OS 7 inside and it is not known whether owners will be able to update to BlackBerry 10 when it is launched.
T3 found the same downsides to the phone with a lack of apps available also mentioned. But they think it is a good phone for those devoted to their current BlackBerry. Wired come to the same conclusion and think it is a well performing phone for the price.
