“great new phone”

★★★★☆

written by christinejturner on 14/04/2013

Picked up my new phone and love the look, its taking a bit longer than I thought to get used to the different functions but am pleased. It cant seem to take all my apps which must be a memory thing but I have too many anyway that I never use.

“Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc S”

★★★★☆

The phone has great features from its network, that is the 3rd generation, its weight and size causing a sense of you feeling substantial touch on your hands, the sound is okay for music listeners, the camera produces good images just to name a few of the many more good features, the only issue that I haven't liked about the phone is its, abrupt closing of browsing windows and also the usable memory of only 320 MBs should be increased by the developers.

“Great phone, could have more RAM and onboard memory...”

★★★★☆

written by on 30/11/2012

I'll keep it short, great phone but it could do with more of both kinds of memory. It only has 1GB of onboard storage, but the usable memory is only about 300MB (The rest is used by the phone's software). As a lot of apps can't be installed on a MicroSD card, only the onboard memory, this soon eats up what little there is. Also with only 512MB of RAM, this phone has to be restarted every day otherwise it slows down quickly.

Also, it can only have about five internet tabs open at a time or it will crash to the home screen. WiFi has a problem that it won't connect unless the phone is connected to a mobile network, not sure if this is an Android thing or this phone's software - hasn't changed upon upgrading to Android 4 or rooting. Great screen though, iPlayer at high res looks great.

Very watchable on the small screen. Sound is okay from the speakers, good battery life when listening to music as well. Camera is great in bright light, and okay in darker rooms.

“FANTASTIC!”

★★★★★

written by jamieb193 on 09/06/2012

The phone is fantastic!!! It has an extremely accurate and responsive 4.2 inch screen. It's nice and big, not too big but feels nice in the hand. I have owned an iPhone 4 and I never thought I'd say this, but I much prefer this to the iPhone. I swore by my iPhone and was adamant that there was no phone that could match this except from the 4S when it was finally revealed. I was proven wrong. There is next to no lag, if any at all. It's speedy 1.4GHz processor does the job it's supposed to do effortlessly. The 8.1 megapixel camera is superb! Upgradable to Android 4.0 ICS too! The battery life was suprisingly good. I expected it to die towards 8:30pm based on my previous xperia phones. I have my brightness at around 50%, WiFi always on and with use throughout the day, Facebook, Calls, Texts, Browsing and Gaming, I normally go to bed with about 40% charge left. But if you are really cautious you can buy the upgraded 1700mAh battery If you buy it then go to phones4u. It's only £179.99 and Carphone Warehouse want £400. The only thing I can comment on about this phone is the casing. It feels nice but it would be a mess if you propped it because it's a cheapish plastic material. Overall, great phone, great price, also comes with an 8gb microSD card in it.

Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc S

The Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc S, which is said to be an improved version of the original Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc, has received a few praises as well as disappointed grunts from its users, with many saying that the newer version offered only minimal enhancements from the original. It has the original Xperia Arc’s best features that the users love best like its screen size, light weight, battery life and camera while adding a few improvements to make it more appetising to mobile users around the globe.

A couple of things everyone at Good Gear Guide is raving about are two software additions which were not in the original Arc model. One is the 3D sweep panorama feature which allows users to take a panoramic shot and then view it in 3D using 3D TV made possible by the HDMI-out port in the Arc S. Another is the advanced Facebook integration which now allows for faster sharing of music, pictures, videos and the like without having to go to the actual Facebook application every time.

The new Xperia Arc S also boasts of a faster processor at 1.4 GHz as opposed to 1 GHz in the original model. The user is able to open multiple applications without experiencing any lags at all. What’s more, improved firmware succeeded in injecting excitement with the Android 2.3.4 and Sony Ericsson’s latest Timescape user interface.

Sony Ericsson’s Xperia Arc had introduced an amazing camera with 8.1-megapixels giving fabulous output and this was retained in the new Xperia Arc S with enhancements which now allow the user to take better shots in dim-lit scenarios without compromising the colour, brightness and overall picture quality.

Finally, to make the Xperia Arc S distinctive from the original model, the unit sports a concave design at the back with a shiny finish.

Although the new, supposedly, more improved Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc S has come up short in most of the users’ expectations, it still is a strong contender in the Android phone market. It has the best camera phone, sleek and futuristic design, great screen size and resolution and powerful firmware which definitely give more for its price.
