Samsung Galaxy S4

The Samsung Galaxy S4 smartphone will most probably be one of the biggest hits of 2013 when we compare mobile phones as this isn’t just another smartphone with the same old features.

The main innovations we got to play around with were truly useful and these include Smart Scroll, Samsung Translate, Samsung Voice Drive and Samsung Health. Below we review what these offer to the mobile phone consumer.

Smart Scroll

This great new feature seemed to work well and it is basically an eye-tracking feature that enhances the usability of the Galaxy S4. As you read down the page and reach the bottom of the text the phone will automatically scroll down the page. It can also be used when enjoying media such as videos and TV shows and if you look away the media will pause until you gaze back at the display.

Samsung Translate

As an avid traveller with a home overseas I thought I was well placed to review this new translation software. The real beauty of this feature is that there is no need to type any text. Simply say your phrase and the voice recognition software will understand words, translate them and then give an audible translation, truly awesome.

Samsung Voice Drive

This is another great app that takes GPS navigation one step further by combining it with a virtual digital assistant. Without removing my hands from the steering wheel I was able to send and receive text messages, read an email, receive social network updates and check the weather report. I do have to say however that I felt that this service was still a distraction from driving.

Samsung Health

Being an unhealthy soul I found this feature to be a great way to increase my hypochondriac tendencies. This handy Samsung app is capable of checking blood pressure, measuring blood sugar levels, heart rate and sleep patterns. Although I didn’t test it out it can also monitor your daily calories and keep check of your exercise routine, even if it is just going for a walk.

Overall we have to rate this product as A.
