“I got this phone on contract, and was initially...”

★★★☆☆

written by on 22/09/2010

I got this phone on contract, and was initially pleased with it. It has loads of different features, some of which are cool and interesting, others fun to use. The camera was good quality, and the apps from the store are great :)
But as a phone, it's not very good. The text messaging area takes so long to open, and closes too much, for no reason.
If two texts come throught at once, my phone just stops and shuts down, and when making phone calls, it hangs up for n reason.
The battery is actually rubbish, mine dies within a day despite only been used for say two phone calls and a dozen texts, which is very annoying as it needs to be charged AGAIN.
I would say this is a good phone if you enjoy playing games and going online on the move, but otherwise avoid. Sadly Im stuck with it for another 13 months :/ x

“I bought an LG GW620 on a new contract from T Mobile....”

★★☆☆☆

written by commanon on 03/06/2010

I bought an LG GW620 on a new contract from T Mobile. I got a great deal from them which gives me unlimited calls to landlines, unlimited internet and 300 cross network minutes/texts - all for £20 per month.
Unfortunately I find the phone very difficult to work - but I think its an age related thing!
Although I specifically asked for a phone that did little more than make phone calls, I ended up being recommended to this particular one.
For me, everything is in minature! Having (middle)- age related short sightedness and the beginnings of arthritic fingers, I find it non too easy to see and a bit fiddly to use the pull-out keyboard. I also had a bit of difficulty understand the great wadge of instructions!
I've mastered it as far as phone calls are concerned, but found it was far from adequate when using the internet.
I found out that the phone will work as a modem in its own right, so I now make use of it by attaching it to my laptop - ok, its not as convenient, but it does give me mobile internet access.
To do this I had to download an application (AP) from the phones "Market Place" ( a place full of useful and useless mini programs for the phone). This allowed me to connect the mobile to the phone by a process called "Tethering". It works very well and its free.
Overall, I am not too happy with the phone itself - although I agree its probably Me and not it thats at fault.
If you are middle aged and perhaps not as dextrous in the eye and finger departments anymore, you might find it a bit daunting.
I get on with it ok - but I wouldnt have another one.

“This is a great phone, I am really pleased with it....”

★★★★★

written by Belle16 on 04/02/2010

This is a great phone, I am really pleased with it. Firstly let me start by saying that I am not a very 'techy' person so this is quite a simple review!!

I decided to go for this phone as I was recently offered an upgrade with my phone provider. I wasn't sure at first as I've never had an LG phone and wasn't sure about their performance. I normally stick with Samsung as I'm a fan of the touch screen and camera quality. I originally decided to go for the Nokia 97 mini but having read the many bad reviews about the problems with the handset, spotted the LG instead, which actually looks very similar to the 97.

The phone is palm sized, with a slide out QWERTY keyboard which is one of the main reasons I went for this phone. Having used a normal mobile phone keypad for the last 10 years this took a while to get used to but I love it now and it's really easy to use. The phone can be used on its side with the keyboard pulled out but also upright with the keyboard closed, which then provides you with a normal mobile phone style keypad for texting etc.

The screen on the GW620 is outstanding; it has a 3 inch screen. The touch screen can sometimes be a bit of a pain as you can often go into the wrong menu choice but this is something that you get used to with time. The screen is bright and colourful, and easy to navigate through the many functions.

The phone comes with a 5 megapixel camera and the quality is really good, just as good as the Samsung Tocco I had previously. The button for the camera is on the side of the phone but easy to use otherwise

Text messaging is simple and the main messaging screen displays the messages as a thread to and from each individual sender rather than the messages separately, which is really useful instead of having to trek back through your inbox to check previous messages.

Browser is really easy to use aswell. The size of the screen is just perfect for networking sites such as facebook etc.

Sound quality on this phone is also really good and comes with loads of great ringtones; something that seems to be quite rare on phones these days. It also has a music player and FM radio.

The phone also has GPS navigation but I haven't used this as yet.

So far I haven't found anything I dislike about this phone. I cannot cover every function in this review but overall this is a great phone. If you do have any questions leave a comment and I shall try my best to answer!!
