Click below to read car reviews of the Smart Fortwo. At Review Centre we have thousands of reviews of cars including other Smart makes and models, both new and used, like the Smart Fortfour and the Smart Roadster.
The main thing about the Smart Forfour is that unlike the other Smarts it was a more conventional five-door hatchback with a roomy interior, available as a four or five-seater. There was a fair old range. The extra length along with the increasing inside space made it easier and more comfortable to drive and it held the road better.
The Smart was designed mainly for urban use in European cities and its USP was it was easy to park and offered good mpg. The look was also daring do it appealed to those who wanted to make a statement. This was a practical environmental car not a macho statement. The Smart Fortwos tiny length of only 8 ft allowed as many as three to be parked in the space normally taken by one standard car. It also built a reputation for safety, maximising the minimal crumple zone at the front the engine was at the back. The engine range was turbocharged three cylinders only. A base petrol engine had 599cc originally but this was increased to 698 and it was restyled and increased successively. A number of models have been made available including the highest performing high tuned Brabus top end model. Of the first 770,000 Fortwo models sold worldwide since its launch about 50,000 have been sold in Britain. After its launch in 1998 the Fortwo was joined by the Forfour hatchback and the Roadster sports Smart but these did not last long and as of 2007 the smart brand is focusing only on its new Fortwo range both coupe and cabrio models.

Only had it for a few weeks, bought as a replacement for a Merc SL. I have not stopped smiling, it's great fun, and I'm saving the planet as well.

The Smart Fortwo Passion is an expensive little car considering the quality. Bought one brand new that had trouble with a water leak from the start. After 2 years of in and out of shop, dealer changed to another one (used) that has again developed a water leak. Not covered by insurance. Generally cut, cheap to run, but not well made.
I would like to say you get what you pay for, but in this case you get ...

Smart Cars like the Smart ForTwo are small cute car inexpensive to run. however what ever you save in running it, you pay in the outlay.
Had a new one developed a water leak in weeks. 2 years of back and forth to the shops, they replaced with another(used one). this one now has a leak. $50 to fix, insurance does not cover leaks. This is a case of not getting what you pay for. Car expensive, not refkected in the construction, certainly not to be associated with ...
