I find Xcart to be a pretty good ecommerce / CMS platform overall. The software interface is pretty good - not too techy but techy enough that you have some decent tools Things like couponing built in was really important and this works like a dream. The reason I've given this 3 out of 5 though isn't so much because the software is poor but is more because their partnership strategy isn't great. Once you've bought the software and you want to find a developer to customise it for you, you'll find a great problem with finding competent Xcart developers - they are just really hard to find. Once you do find one you'll also find it's incredibly difficult to customise so costs and hair-pulling-out escalate. The other issue for me is that it's kind of getting left behind a bit compared to some of the other big platforms like Magento and Shopify. If you want a plug in or a theme or an integration with a payment partner, you'll always feel like the poor cousin if you opt for Xcart because chances are you wont have the same choice as Magento or Shopify customers due to a lack of partnerships done by Xcart. So, in summary, I do find it to be a really good piece of software. Well thought out, reliable, powerful and flexible. However, I wouldn't recommend it whole heartedly to someone because it's competitors are much more integrated and there's a much, much bigger community of developers out there for the 'big boys'.

X-Cart Gold Plus has got to be one of the best fully featured and well supported carts I've used to date. The cart is well supported by 3rd party with a great forum and ticket support through their support site. I've tried a number of open source carts, cloud hosted and have worked on other carts used by my clients and none seem to have the support, help and forum infrastructure that X-Cart has. I've found the staff professional, helpful and reasonably prompt at answering my queries and issues. Major holidays and updates excluded. Caveat... This is not an easy cart to set up and is particular about the server requirements. Make absolutely sure your hosting company will support the requirements. We build our own servers to meet the requirements, so hosting for our clients is not an issue. Would I recommend X-Cart? Yes! Would I purchase more licenses? Yes!

I have been working with the X-Cart team to get my site live for the past three months. They are knowledgeable, have a great turn around time, and are easy to work with - despite being on opposite time zones. I would recommend X-Cart to anyone who is looking to have a user friendly front and backend for their ecommerce store. Tons of skins to use, and modules to customize your site with!

I would not hesitate for a moment to recommend the X-cart. It is so powerful, so versatile and once you get the hang of it, you're off and going like crazy filling it in. If I have ever had a question, the techs are right there to help. I truly feel you could not find a more superior product anywhere. We have been working with X-Cart for over 5 years now and run two commercial web sites using their shopping cart software. In that time, we typically have recourse to their tech support on average of two or three times a year and they have always provided top quality service at a very reasonable price. For this review, in March 2013, our web hosting service decided to update their version of SQL which meant that we needed to migrate all of our inventory for two commercial web sites from two old databases to the new versions. This was a complex, delicate operation which needed to be done with very little downtime. X-Cart's tech support stepped up to the task and had everything moved and updated with no downtime; additionally, we were kept informed of their progress every step of the way. We wouldn't think of using anyone else for our commercial shopping cart software, X-Cart is simply the best and we would recommend them to anyone considering setting up a commercial shopping web site.

When we chose to use x-cart it was after great consideration of the features and ease of scalability to which we have not been dissapointed. It took 4 years for me to find a program that is this powerful, especially for the cost. Xcart is so customizable, you really can do anything with it, if you try. Then even when you get stumped on how to accomplish a task in Xcart, their engineers are RIGHT THERE, all the time. With the click of a mouse they are there to get you over any hurdles you might encounter. They have the best developers and support team I have ever had the pleasure of dealing with. Fast friendly service making sure that you are able to get the most out of your Xcart program. After spending thousands of dollars and getting ripped off by many so called "Ecommerce Developers" I could not be happier. As with Xcart I have been able to design and build my ecommerce site, myself,my way, with some assistance here and there from their AMAZING support team. One of my favorite things about Xcart is the unlimited boundaries you have to customize your site the way YOU want it look. The other is the fact that it has no limits as to how many products you can put up for sale. Many other systems have really small limits,500 products, 2000, products etc.. limiting how far your businees can grow. However, with Xcart, you have endless potential and room to continue to grow rapidly. We are currently in the process of loading over 20,0000 products and still going with ease in Xcart. Thank you so much for designing an affordable program that is so much more than just a shopping cart and exceeded all expectation that we had going into this setup and design. The Xcart program and their team have really been the ultimate solution to all our business start up issues. Thanks to them we can now hit the ground running. Confident that Xcart will get us exactly where we want to be.

I was moderately confused as to how X-Cart / X-Payment's login service to the backend initially worked. I was contacted immediately and was thoroughly explained to how everything worked in a way that I could really understand. I had to play around with things on my end but I was able to get everything up and running in only a few responses. The staff was very helpful and patient with me. I appreciated everything she was able to help me with and I am very content with the results.

I have been using Xcart for a few months now, and found them very easy to work with, and can buy whatever plugins and extensions we may need safe in the knowledge that if it doesn't quite work as planned they are happy to help or give a refund. You cant get fairer than that. I would highly recommend this software and company to anybody. Compared to other carts it is not the cheapest, but it is reliable and they are always on hand to help.

I recently had an issue following an upgrade and part of my xcart system stopped working. Although I'm not on the paid support system, the response I received was timely and my problem was resolved relatively quickly considering I was on unpaid support. I was missing some files and when it was realised they were replaced immediately. Big thanks to Sergey

X-cart is a very mature web development platform for e-commerce stores. Its well tested and battle-hardened over more than a decade of development from one of the best software teams on the planet. I have been working with XC for almost 7 years now, and I have yet to find a better backbone for your e-commerce site. It is a developer's platform, you can create almost anything you can imagine, since it's open source nature gives you, or your dev, full access to the code. All the features you could ask for. And the features have been tweaked and added to from real world merchant experiences. It's not likely that you will need to do something that XC doesn't already do. :-) If you want to build a mature, competitive website, than X-cart has everything you need in a nice tidy package. The price simply can't be beat, and purchase gives you unlimited lifetime access to upgrades. You won't get that anywhere else.

Well, it just does what is needed and doesn't break things. Comes with tax, shipping estimates, integrate with Authorize.net for credit cards. Works with Paypal. Importand moment to pay attention to - hosting where you are going to run it. I advise to go with either of recommended hosting providers listed on their marketplace site.
