I bought a pair of leather boots from Johnson's shoes in Windsor in December. I wore them once and it rained. The rain left marks on the boots. I took them back to the store within 5 days and was treated in the most appalling and accusatory manner by the Manager, who threatened to have me removed from the store by Security when I insisted on being given a refund, which he categorically refused to give to me. I have 3 children and have been a loyal customer of Johnsons Shoes in New Malden for over 12 years. I was absolutely staggered when having accidently purchased the same size school shoes for my eldest son that they would not offer me a refund. This on top of the fact that I had had a conversation with the assistant helping us as I wasn't sure that they would be needed and he had not once mentioned that their returns policy meant that I could not get a refund. Johnsons is a small chain of about 6 or 7 shoe shops in South West London. Their range of shoes is good and their prices are OK (often not as cheap as online, but most physical shops aren't) The issue I have with them is that they have a dreadful returns policy. I don't understand why shops that are competing with online and other retailers decide to alienate customers by having poor returns policies.
