“Viking Topaz 30”

Written on: 11/03/2014 by 271Hollis (1 review written)

If you are in need of sewing anything over the thickness of 1/4" don't buy this machine. I was promised it could sew leather and denim with no problem. Wrong. It always goes into "main motor overload". I then have to transfer to one of my other machines to finish the task. I sew apparel, do alterations, and teach people to learn to sew and design. This is one machine I advice my students to stay away from. This machine can not handle the basic material. I gave up my work horse, Bernina 1130… Read Full Review

“Husqvarna Viking Sewing/Embroidery Machines”

Written on: 07/12/2013

I have been sewing on Husqvarna Viking machines for 10 years. I am in love with them. They offer features that I cannot find on any other brand. If you purchase from the right dealer, you will get plenty of help with any issue you have. I also use the Viking Embroidery software and my dealer has always been very helpful to help me reload anytime I get a new Computer. I have friends who have not changed software in 5 years and still like it. From talking with my friends who own other… Read Full Review

“It may not be your fault!”

Written on: 05/06/2013

My machine and the local shop's are Topaz 30, not 20 as stated: We bought our Topaz 20 at a quilt show in Pomona CA from an AZ dealer in January 2010. We had exceeded the capabilities of our 1972 Kenmore (actually still going strong) and were impressed with the projects produced at the show attributed to that Topaz 20. We had trouble with it immediately, though I could nurse it along by very carefully regulating its speed. Our friends (Bernina owners) strongly suggested careful thread… Read Full Review

Hi, I also had the same problem. I purchased a spool extension (around £20) - the extension basically sits on top of the spool pin and your thread goes up before then being threaded (if you see what I mean). I no longer have any problems. I spent a fortune sending my machine in to be fixed, the tension didn't work properly etc, but now it is fine. Try it :)

Hi,

I purchased from Coles Sewing Centre.

Cost is £22.00 but may be worth searching the net and eBay. If you have any further problems let me know and I will try to help :)

I've learned it is the way you place the spool on your machine. Was always warned NOT to use Coats thread in my Viking it would always break. But I watched a video on Crafty form Cindy Needham a spoke person for Superior thread. She explained whys the threads my be braking and it was okay to use the lesser thread. Having a basket full of coats thread my mother always used I tried it and I be damn the thread work smooth as silk,

“Fantastic Machine”

Written on: 12/09/2012 by Julieann100 (1 review written)

I last sewed about 30 years ago and suddenly I decided that I wanted to do some machine embroidery. I was amazed by the number of machines available and in the end decided on the Husqvarna Topaz 30. I have owned the machine for about 18 months and I cannot believe the difference in my skills. I was never an accomplished sewer, however, after not very long I found that I could do many different things that I would have never attempted before. The machine is so easy to use and does so many… Read Full Review

“Difficult to get repaired”

Written on: 22/03/2012 by STELL421 (1 review written)

I have a Husvarna Viking Topaz 30. It has a manufacturing fault, but I have to pay to get the machine to the manufacturers even though they will correct it free. The software goes out of date very quickly and you dont get help if you update your computer, they would rather tell you that you need new software rather than explain how to down load your exsisting software onto your new computer… Read Full Review

I don't blame you for being upset. You need a new dealer. Husqvarna has updates to some of its software online and has to new drivers that you would need when you get a newer computer. But your dealer should be the one to help you through things. I'm sorry you aren't getting the service that you need.
