Burgman 400Z ABS 2012 model

I've ridden several Burgman scooters, 400's & 650's. Both are good in everyway. But recently I swapped my Vstrom 1000cc Suzuki in for the new 400Z ABS model. "What!!" I hear you say. "That's a bit of a come down!". Well, not really. It's horses for courses of course, but having had many many motorcycles of all sizes over the years I'm more than pleased I've made the change. My model has ABS, handguards, heated grips, passenger backrest etc etc. It's not short on comfort or safety. It handles as good as a motorcycle and has plenty of power too easily cruising at 70-80mph if needed. The auto tranny is smooth and effortless. When out of warranty it will be very easy to service myself with nothing complicated to do. And..the whole bike is a hoot to ride and very very practical with 70+mpg. In fact my first acquaintance with the 400 Burgman was when I took my Vstrom in for service only to find the usual 1000cc courtesy bike wasn't available. I was left with a Burgman 400! I wasn't keen frankly but was assured it would take me in comfort on my daily work run without a problem. That was good reassurance as I had to cover almost 200 miles that day for meetings and training around my home county. So I put my laptop, camera, briefcase etc under the seat and off I went. Frankly, it was a surprise. The Burgman went so well throughout the day going in every type of traffic on motorways, towns and country roads that no one could fail to be impressed. I was, so much so that I bought one! My new one is just 1 month old and has covered 750 miles but it's going brilliantly. I won't be going back to big bikes ever again! The 650 Burgman is more complicated and weighs in at a nearly one third of a ton when fuelled and is very complicated for only a very small increase in performance.
