“Dependable Honda 100cc ”

★★★★☆

written by ikWarren18 on 28/10/2017

Bought a Honda SCV just to keep my insurance ticking over. I have been riding 1000cc sports tourers but this little scoot is fine 2 wheeled transport. Mine has only done 5,000 miles although 13 years old and on the flat will do 45mph, sometimes 50, but it goes uphill without losing much speed. So easy to service, less than a litre of oil and one spark plug. Bless it, it starts on the button even if I've left it for 6 weeks. Good little scooter, very economical, better than a 50cc 2 stroke I tried.

“18,000 on a Honda scv lead”

★★★★☆

written by ScooterHero on 15/04/2014

I have had the Honda SCV Lead for one year now and have put 18,000 extra kilometers on the clock. In all that time I had just one problem - a snapped CVT belt. Why it snapped I do not know as it was changed at 25,000 kms and the new one broke at 31000! Although I have had 85kph going downhill on a long road I find the little scooter will cruise all day happily at 60-65 kph without using oil and offering wonderful fuel consumption. It starts first time every time and I have used it every day this past year except one day when the ice was too slippery. I live in Hungary and the winters can get cold but it worked every day. This is my working bike, not a weekend hobby bike and as a workhorse it cannot be beaten. I live 50 kms from Budapest and daily trips can be a little slow at 65 kph (which is why I am changing it). Once it is in the city it is second to none. Fast away from the lights, easy to handle and park and it is the perfect city or suburban bike. The only two points I would like to improve are that it would be useful to have a sidestand to hop on and off quickly - and the underseat storage could be a bit bigger to fit an open face helmet.

“Reliable and economical”

★★★★☆

written by Biker_Bob on 18/02/2014

A good little scooter, very small and light. Acceleration is very good - it'll beat most cars away from the lights (unless they're really going for it). Top speed is not so good. Bank on a cruising speed of 45MPH maximum, the variator keeps it moving along on the hills well enough. Performance wise it's a little faster than a C90 most of the time and quite a bit faster than a C90 up the hills. Servicing is easy, screw and locknut tappets and a litre or so of 10W40 oil and you're done. Handling is pretty horrible, but then all scooters do handle very badly so I don't think it's any worse than the rest. The brakes are good enough. The seat is large and comfy and there's some underseat storage, though not enough to put a helmet. I can get waterproofs, a chain and lock and my lunch under there. In general I'd recommend it, not so good for long distances due to the top speed but I've done some longer runs on it and it's not so bad once you get in the zone.

3 months into ownership now, 2000 miles clocked up. It's a brilliant little thing. I've seen 54MPH on the clock but I stand by my previous 45MPH as the maximum cruising speed - it must be doing 7000 RPM at that and I think that's enough!

“A very economical bike”

★★★★★

written by goldenrise on 22/09/2012

I have it already one and a half year and it works perfectlym, till now it hasn't any problem exept that it burns a little oil after 2000 km. I would recomend it to everyone that wants an economical, powerful and safe motorcycle. I live in a village of Greece that has many uphills, I am 95 kilos and it can transfer me through these uphills easily. The only thing that I don't like is that it's not very fast only once I runned with 85 kilometers per hour and since then I can only reach 80 km. The conclusion is that, although is a little slow, it is wellmade and it is powerful

“Honda SCV100 Lead Great Runner”

★★★★☆

written by on 15/09/2012

I have had a Honda SCV100 Lead since April. I have had only 1 problem with it in that when it is a hot day the engine will stall if I stop at traffic lights. I overcome this by slightly revving the engine. Apart from this problem (not much of one with the British summer!)I have travelled over 3,000 miles both locally and on long journeys of about 150 miles without any other problems.

i have just bought a honda lead 100cc.but find its top speed of 40mph on open road slow for a 100cc it pulls well on hills but its overall speed is disapointing.

Your top speed should be about 50-55mph. If you bought it second hand it may need tappets adjusted .

“Honda Scv100 Lead”

★★★★★

38k miles, not one break down or serious issue at all in four years of ownership and it cost me just fuel, oil and tyres & two drive belts (changed at service). These little underated scooters are what Honda do best. I know you can get a 125 Chinese scooter with disc brakes, stylish plastics, & a little more power, and free top boxes etc for quite a bit less, but would it last as long as one of these? I doubt it very much. It's not the most powerful of scooters, nor is it high tech either. What it is, is a reliable, and typically well built scooter that Honda are renowned at doing best. After all we all have to thank them for the legendary C90 Cub. Don't waste your money on cheaper subsitutes, as a few mates of mine have already found out, it'll only cost you twice as much in the end.

“Great bike but beware of aftermarket Givi screens”

★★★★★

written by toltec121 on 29/09/2011

Great bike. I previously owned a Suzuki 400 Burgman and did find The Honda a bit slow at first but appreciate it's lightness and fuel economy. It is actually good fun to ride. I am always amazed by how much stuff it will carry. I have had bags under the seat, in the topbox, strapped to the rear seat and hanging from the hook in the footwell. I then had a backpack with more stuff. I have used it for short local trips, regular 40 mile round trips to visit family and so far, one 400 mile round trip. Top speed is about 52-53mph until the rev limiter cuts in (a somewhat odd sensation) and so far over 1000 miles of riding have averaged 105 mpg. Pretty good considering half of that has been flat out at 50mph. I do miss having a sidestand but have seen that a firm called Buzzetti make an aftermarket stand so intend to get one. ************* One warning though. Never buy a Givi screen. I bought one for winter riding and they mis-supplied right hand thread bolts to fix the screen bracket to the Honda mounts. Three weeks on I am still waiting. In fact the initial response was that it must be a "fault on my particular bike". Really ! Honda accidentally threaded it back to front? I did check with my dealer and all Hondas use left hand thread fixing so basically Givi are just incompetant. If Givi are that useless who knows if the stuff they sell is safe? Toyota initially denied a fault with their cars but after several people were killed in America, they had to recall millions of cars. I no longer trust Givi. Better to buy a Puig (German made and TUV approved) or a genuine Honda.

Had my Honda Lead 108cc for 8 months now and have done 3000 miles.
Very reliable and cheap to run. About 100 miles to gallon. Im 15 stone and can get top speed 52 mph and is very fast in getting there. First service 600 miles costs £70 at honda dealer and second sevice 2500 miles cost £110. This is my first scooter im a car driver age 40 years so took a bit of getting used to. The only problem with the small wheels is the pot holes and drain covers. The under seat storage is perfect for 2 bike helmets or a work bag. In 8 months has only let me down once and it was a puncture cant blame the svooter for that. Hope this review was helpful.

written by on 21/08/2010

My SCV 100 was the first scooter I had ridden for 40 years.(Age and 750 Kawasakis are not a good mix.) Appreciated good handling and automatic drive, the perfomance was perfectly adequate for commuting and the excellent windscreen even made wet journeys bearable. 90mpg, 45mph, £15 tax and £1250 new with the screen, its a snip.
Age demands some grumpiness: The engine 'feels' weak BUT,it has been totally reliable, and it needs 12" wheels and better rear suspension to cope with the potholed cart tracks that are Britains roads.
That said, 'Brilli'

I have had the honda lead 110 for only 2 weeks now and it is an excellent little machine for my work and play.Very quick acceleration and a top speed of about 55mph. Very low maintainance and good ride makes this a great first scooter.
No problems so far ive done about 350 miles in 2 weeks.
Fuel consumption is excellent, it costs about £5 to fill. Storage is excellent with plenty of space under the seat. Ride quality is good plus comfy which is a bonus.

Had the scooter just over a year now and have had no mechanical issues with it.Top speed is between 40-45 depending on incline or wind. Get about 90 miles to a tank 6 litres but i do tend to ride it flat out everywhere, economy does improve if ridden smoother.I ride to work everyday which is a 30 mile round trip and the scooter is comfortable enough.I wish i had bought a 125cc but thats because i would like a bit more speed, acceleration is ok though.

Bought it to travel to work and still using it. Have bumped the front fairing and right side front panel so if you can help I would appreciate it. Thanks. John Thomas. It is quite sturdy and very nippy. Light to handle, easy to drive as its twist and go, my first one of this type.

HONDA LEAD 108cc scooter

I have had mine 6 months now and it is an excellent little machine for my work. With quick acceleration and a top speed of 52mph. Very low maintainance and good ride makes this a great first scooter/bike.
Very few problems with it, the only one being a slow start when it got to -7 degrees and the indicator froze on once.
Fuel consumption is OK, it costs £4.50 to fill which lasts me a week or so on my 6 miles a day. Storage is excellent with plenty of space under the seat. Ride quality is good plus comfy which is a bonus.
When reaching the top speed it starts to drag as someone else said but I think this is the limiter rather than it struggling.

I have had this bike for 13 months, the built quality is perfect and it's the most reliable vehicle i've owned. I've done 4000 miles so far and there hasn't been a problem, or any sign of a problem so far. The only problem with the Honda is that when you indicate, it makes a clicking noise like you're in a car. But let's be fair, that's petty! Top Class!

Mine was 7 years old with 14000 miles, I paid £550 for it. I've seen them for £500 with upwards of 25000 on the clock, but I'd buy one with less than 20000 given the choice.
