OmgItsRee's review of Richard Dawkins, The God Delusion

Best book i've ever read. It goes where people are afraid to and touches on subjects that other people wont. All Christians should read this book, a lot wont because they know ignorance is bliss but I highly recommend raising your consciousness with this. Richard Dawkins is very respectful to religion, he just approaches it from every angle, in order to help you make an educated decision on what to believe and why. What motivated me to read this book was that I always identified as agnostic, if you asked me why I was agnostic before I read this book I would have said it was because I wasn't sure what to believe. After reading this book I can confidently say that I only identified as agnostic because of fear of being judged and rejected by Christian family, friends and communities. I have always been atheist but am now confident enough to admit it. I also wanted to read this book because I was tired of being harassed by those Christians that stop you in the street trying to convert you, I needed to strengthen my argument so I could articulate why I wasn't interested. After reading the first few chapters I was able to hold my own in a religious discussion, so much so that they couldn't argue with me anymore and walked away (3 of them Vs me). Proud moment! I also hope I inspired them to question their belief more and enlightened them to think independently. I can't recommend this book more! If you're a Christian and are confident in your belief this book should not shake you, it will however educate you. You go to Church and sometimes you learn something new right? you may not notice that what you learn 100% of the time is in favor of your belief. Assuming you are a person of at least 16 years old, you know that a one sided argument, isn't an argument. You can't make an informed decision having only heard one side of a story. So at least hear the other half then if you decide to stay Christian, more power to you (I genuinely mean that). Please don't be afraid to read this book, you wont regret it.
