“This was your classic love story with a bit of 80's...”

I love this movie it's based on a book which I yet to get my hands on. I think Wesley and Buttercup were a great match until Wesley got sent out to sea and some claimed he were dead. This movie has action, it has love it has revenge, and a bit of danger. I own this movie I could never get bored of it, this is one of those movies you can watch over again and quote the lines and remember it. Sure it was a little cheesy it was the 80's a lot of those movies had cheese. I would watch it again and I would recommend it to a friend. I would tell you to just out and buy without even seeing it first, it's pretty good.

    “Brilliant classic 80's movie!”

I absolutely love this movie! And in my opinion, The Princess Bride is one of the best cult videos of the 1980s, and a family classic besides. This is truly a treasure of a film that you'll want to watch again and again. It's not just a family friendly fantasy adventure comedy enjoyed by new generations of youngsters as well as their parents; it's also a spoof of movies like it. It's really hilarious and the actors are all great. This sure is an 80's classic.

Oh this is one of my favourite films ever! I saw it as a teenager and we went back to the cinema again and again to the point we knew every line in the film! It's a brilliant comedy/drama about a young stable boy who falls in love with the boss' daughter so he goes away to seek his fortune and is lost at sea. She is then chosen by the Prince, a vile man, as his bride and he is going to force her to marry him when suddenly the Dread Pirate Roberts appears and kidnaps her. All sorts of mayhem ensue on the road to true love, which cannot, it would seem, be stopped by death, only delayed.

This film is odd, sarcastic, comical and sweet in equal measures, played to perfect comic timing perfection by a cast which includes Mandy Patinkin repeatedly saying "My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die."

    Brilliant!

This simple movie is simply brilliant. I thought it did the amazing book justice, and I found myself laughing the whole way through. The characters in The Princess Bride were picked perfectly, and I loved Andre the Giant as Fezzik. You will laugh your head off, and it is actually a good love story too. Go and watch it and enjoy.

The Princess Bride - Just reading a plot summary of this corker of a film you would think (if you were a grown up male) that this is going to be TOTAL garbage; just some rubbish fit only for duping uncritical minors into silence for an hour and a half. Fantasy princesses, rescuers, villains, etc., don't usually make for a good film.

HOWEVER - you would be MISTAKEN. This film is a wonderful and enjoyable entertainment-fest. Sleeping beauty meets Errol Flynn is the best summary of the film. Good guys, not so good good guys, bad guys, a giant, a truly loathsome but amusing villan and the girl.

The film is partly made by the incredibly high quality of the cast, including many small parts from a range of faces you will recognise: Peter Cook, Mel Smith, Billy Crystal, etc.

Films that are as enjoyable as this are rare. See it. Buy it. Love it.
