I called the London Music Centre after a series of failed attempts elsewhere to arrange a suitable teacher for my needs, as I am studying for my diploma. Although most teachers I came across elsewhere were reasonably satisfactory as performers, they have missed that charm of being a teacher as well! Within 24 hours of contacting the LMC, Elliot understood exactly what was needed and assured me he will personally pursue the most suitable tutor for me as quickly as possible. Mind you it was... I'm not surprised that there are good reviews here because the agency does have good teachers and does take care of the clients, but anyone with a sense of good principles can't simply dismiss the fact that although they treat the clients well, the same does NOT happen to the teachers: they charge a HUGE comission, their contracts are full of obligations towards the agency but nothing towards the teacher. Parents and studens: stop being blind, get out of your comfort zone and ask your teachers... (read more)

I had wanted my son to learn piano for ages - but couldn't seem to find the right teacher for him who would encourage him in an exciting way and who was available at the times we need (he has a busy schedule!) I called London Music Centre and had an extremely pleasant and warm conversation with a member of the team. Less than 24 hours later, a teacher was organised for my son - the most inspiring, warm and highly accomplished teacher. My son is now studying for his grade 4 and has achieved... (read more)

Looking for a music teacher has been made so easy for me. I got tired receiving some teachers details from other mothers in my son's school hoping the teacher is properly qualified and going to be available when I need the lessons to take place. it always boiled down to "I can only come at that day at this time, take it or leave it" or "I have some experience teaching but no CV" or "half an hour isn't long enough for me to justify the journey" and so forth! The London music centre has... (read more)

As a PA for major UK artist, we had to get a piano teacher and a piano within 48 hours. I was amazed by the slow, lazy and indifferent attitude we have been experiencing from agencies, teachers and dealerships alike managing to arrange anything for us, no matter how important it was to get my client on track with the lessons and the amount of energy wasted on back and forth negotiations and compromises willing to be made. We have noticed the LMC's website and gave it a go. A missed call... (read more)

We have enjoyed working with the London music centre and its teachers since day 1. The process has worked quite well for us, for which we are pretty pleased. Elliot Mann and the team were fabulous, professional and to the point. I always feel as if I'm the only client there, and every request has always been professionally addreessed immediately. I've never dealt with a better agency before (and I did get my fair share of aggregation from others previous to the LMC)! I thank them for... (read more)

Bryan,You should take the 1-Star rereewivs completely seriously, especially since each of them had the intestinal courage and moral transparency to stand behind their reviews with their ACTUAL names. I mean, rereewivs who don't hide behind the veil of anonymity but are bold enough to use their real names such as Nova Orion and Doctor Danger are instantly credible right? Maybe these negative reviews are simply displaced anger at their parents for such goofy names or merely manifestations of latent childhood teasing about their unfortunate schoolyard handles? BTW, I'm not sure why the good doctor hyphenated both marketing-speak and bottom-feeder in his review. His hyper-hyphen-over-use-seems-comically-incorrect

I am a very happy client of the London Music Centre, my children are doing fabulously well in their studies and reached Grade 1 piano within a short amount of time having a fantastic and dedicated teacher who's working with them since day one. My child studied piano with a teacher from the London Music Teacher for a couple of Month. We then found out that the price that LMC is charging is more expensive then the standard rate for piano lesson. The teacher's standard are outstanding, but LMC has no relation at all with the conservatoire that the teachers are from. Then, I was VERY angry to find out that how little the teachers actually get compare to what we pay to the company! LMC charges: £25 for 30 minutes lesson, £35 for 45... (read more)

I have read your review here and I am quite surprised to hear about your negative experience.
I am a very happy client of the London Music Centre, my children are doing fabulously well in their studies and reached Grade 1 piano within a short amount of time having a fantastic and dedicated teacher who's working with them since day one.
Yes, I agree music lessons aren't cheap but what is? My friends' children have riding lessons, which they have to travel to (more than half an hour journey) and pay £45 per hour (when it's always 45 minutes session actually). Another friend's children having tennis lessons, again the need to travel and arrange their time according to the instructor's schedule, and paying £45 (and we are not living in premium areas at all!). Whereas the LMC fitted the lessons according to our schedule, having their teachers travelling to my home, so all I need to do is to open the door for them!
I know how challenging it is to run such agency as I once worked for a similar one, paying salaries (modest ones) and paying the hefty costs of advertising, a method of which helped you found your teacher for the first place.
For all I know, my teacher is satisfied with his fees, happy to receive more students with no costs to advertise or any other hassle and being offered a constant supply of new students of all levels, providing them with huge experience and offer them enthusiastic recommendations when applying to work in other institutions in their future careers (I know that for a fact!)
I can also share with you, when my children needed a substitute teacher, as our regular teacher went abroad for a series of recitals, Elliot, the director of the LMC himself managed to arrange another great substitute teacher within a couple of hours so there were no missed lessons at all.
I am a teacher myself and I know very well how hard it is to find such calibre of teachers, treat the parents in the most respected and constructive way and always provide the best service and advice to whoever interested from the first call, regardless of their interests.
I would therfore recommend the London Music Centre to any parent who is interested in top quality teachers, top customer service and a professional advice 7 days a week!
It is my humble opionion you didn't mention the fact you were interested in a free ride, getting something for nothing as you may think life should treat you that way. Well, you never get something for nothing and quality teachers and service costs, especially in education!

May I just say I have a teacher from the LMC, and do intend to write a rather positive review regarding their services. To be fair, I have spoken to other teachers in the past who used to teach my daughter and as it happened we came to discuss fees etc. To my horror I realised the other agency had paid them £16 per hour and charged us ever so slightly less than the London Music Centre; Therefore, I am not sure how you reached your conclusion to feel pity for the LMC teachers.
In my humble opinion, and according to my current piano teacher, the teachers are well respected by the agency, and fairly compensated for their hard work.
Without the LMC you wouldn't have found those teachers, and Rebecca was very right to have made that comment. In order for agencies to survive, they need to charge commission. If you wish to pay less, simply source your own teachers, using your own knowledge and experience to choose who's best for your child, if any. I have found your comment slightly abusive and unfair to be honest.

What is that BS?! I was offered a rate of £35 per hour when joint as part of a seasonal offer, which has been going on for some time. All other extras were offered as default, such as:
1. Lessons at my home
2. When convenient to me ( and flexible as i don't have predictable schedule)
3. As many/ little sessions as requested, with 24 hours cancellation notice only!
I can't recommend these guys enough!
Check your facts buddy, you're totally vicious about them, I won't be surprise if you're unhappy with most services ever offered to you...

The London Music Centre is an agent that provide music teachers for students hoping to learn an musical instrument. The company advertises that all the teacher provided are from a prestigious, world-renowned music conservatoire in London. However, after having my son studying with a teacher provided by the LMC for a few months, (the teacher is wonderful and joy to study with), we have found out the company is taking nearly 50% of commission from the fee we pay to the company, and many of... Dear Alex, I have read your review. I don't think the LMC had ever insinuated to be affiliated to the Royal Academy in any way so I am surprised you thought so.
I have contacted Mr. Mann from the LMC, and perhaps they should see the negativity here and try to respond to it. I know few families from the school my children are attending to and they're all praising the London Music Centre. I will ask them to share their opinions as well here for the sake of fairness.
I should mention I have no relation to any of the LMC staff, but as a teacher I can truly appreciate their contribution!

I must say I am appalled and shocked to read such a review.
I have been the head of strings in LMC for the last 3 years and have been involved in a few agencies in my time - and LMC is by far the best - both in their professionalism and the care they take in ensuring we are happy as teachers. It is a shame a negative review such as the one above, obviously written by someone with limited experience, could potentially damage such a great company.
LMC teachers have the luxury of no advertising worries, no other costs, and receive 4 times the minimum wage for their teaching. As well as this, they receive prompt wages, monthly charges and are able to call LMC 7 days a week with any concerns they may have.
I would be very cautious about paying attention to the above review. I cannot fathom its legitimate basis and in my expertise as a musician in both a performing and teaching capacity, I sincerely would not trust my services anywhere else.
