I first got these boots at the end of 2009 and they were exactly what i was looking for;which was good grip, strength, protection and light-wieght feel. the Adidas flanker 4's tick all these boxes. I am a prop forward so I weight about 14 and half stone and these boots provided the grip in the scrums and rucks and were light enough that i could run at pace to every breackdown, which made me belive even more in my ability and i grew confidence in my game. to my disapointment, my boot gave there last performance on november of this year as the tongue was ripped out of it position by a boot to the foot by a the opposition forward but to be honest they have lasted 2 years of hard graphed so they haved served me well.

I agree I am only 10 stone yet the studs in my boots have also worn through. I have had to replace 5 pairs of Adidas Flanker boots in the last two years because they have broken. I am starting to get a little fed up with the unreliability. As said before the protection on the front is very good, just a shame that the boots continually break.

The sole is too thin. If your a more hefty player like myself you may find that the studs poke through the thin insole within a week and it is not replaceable. Two of the stud recepticles actually separated from the sole within two weeks of first use. My old flanker 3's never had any of these problems, but were a little too narrow. When the new wide fit came out Iwas overjoyed but upon delivery and use I was dissapointed. Two good things I can say is that the upper has held up quite well and the shield protection foam bits seem to work.
