I went to my first ever jump camp last March. I took my four year old horse that had only been broken in a few months before so I was slightly nervous. My horse settled great and we learnt so much. We had so much fun and he was a total star. The facilities are the best I've seen, the food was fab and Jane's organisation and friendly attitude made me feel right at home. I came away with lots of new friends and a much more experienced horse that learnt so much in just a couple of days. Couldn't recommend it enough just sad I live so far away. Can't wait to get booked up for another one next year :-)

I have been to 3 Active Rider camps but April was my 1st one in a while, due to distance issues! We drove 206miles to get to camp, and it was worth it! Everybody is so fantastically friendly, you have soooo much fun, the trainers are some of the best in the country they all know there stuff, they don't pressure you any more than you can achieve and are such confidence givers it's fantastic! Having had problems with confidence it seems to be brimming again all due to camp! Can't wait till the next camp! Bring on 2014!!!

I have been on 2 camps now and both were fantastic. Everyone is really friendly, some familiar faces from last time which was nice. The groups were very well put together at both camps, we all felt we were wanting to achieve the same thing and there was no pressure. We all encouraged each other and had a good laugh during training. The trainers are brilliant, very encouraging, give you so much confidence and understand your horses strengths and weaknesses to build on them. It was not competitive which was great, and we achieved everything we wanted to and more and came away with lots of confidence! Overall, fab facilities, great trainers and excellently organised. Booked onto our 3rd camp in September!

I dont think there is anything that they haven't thought about on this camp. Well organised and very well supervised. I went to camp on a different horse as mine was injured really not looking forward to it. Felt nervous. We had a flatwork lesson in the Friday which calmed my nerves a lot. The next day just two of us went in the xc course before I knew it I was flying over the jumps under the confident teaching if Maddy Moffat. Later I had a jump lesson with nik targett. Amazing jumping training I really didn't think my cob was such a brilliant jumper. By hey really brought the best out of us. I went with a group of girls. We all camp home and immedately booked for the September camp.

Absolutely Fabulous.... first time i have been on a camp or travelled with my horse for an overnight stay. So was a little concerned how we would both "perform". I neednt have worried. Jane, the ACTIVE RIDER CAMP organiser, is friendly, organised and hard working, the people attending the camp range from beginners to the hardcore competitor - all are friendly, supportive and welcoming. I was made to feel like I truly belonged. My horse, a youngster and novice, came on leaps and bounds. Quite literally we were popping over the xcountry course and thoroughly enjoying ourselves - even thou i thought i was too old to start leaving the ground! I arrived home exhilarated, motivated and raring to go. So much so within 24 hours i had booked another camp for later the same year. I made lots of new friends from all over the country and am literally - along with the other active rider devotees - counting the days till the next Camp. Just do it, would be my overriding advice - its fabulous & highly addictive.

I have to say I am an addict. I have attended camps regularly actually in the fourth year now. I would never have dreamed that I could achieve so much and wouldnt have done without Active Rider camps. Jane is fab, funny, professional but most of all cares that people get the best out of their weekend. I cant begin to say how amazing the feeling is from the excitement of getting to Summerford on Fri to leaving on Sun. Everyone friendly so much to do and see. If you are thinking about coming then come over to see what goes on before hand. You will be hooked!!!!!! Janisxxx

Fantastically organised and well planned, you can do as much or as little as you want. I cannot rate this camp highly enough, it was recommended to me by a friend last year and it was so good 8 of us went back this year. The first year I chose x-c and jumping, my passions. But thought I should work on my "circles" (my flatwork is usually over in 10 mins). But I REALLY enjoyed my lessons with Tori Peter; the hour flew and I learnt so much I may even do a few dressage tests!! (and that is saying something for me!) I jumped a new horse this year and was quite nervous but Jane Hussell immediately settled me and my horse and we were jumping things I would never had the bottle to do on my own. The other Campers were lovely too, all friendly, helpful and we had such a laugh my sides are still aching. (No I didn't fall off). The extra Clinics Jane and Lisa put on are second to none and again I learnt so much from talking to them and the other riders. I've already booked for next year.

Excellent camp and Jane really goes all the way with her organisation of everything, right down to the lovely and very welcome ice creams! Everybody was really friendly and the facilities at Somerford Park are just excellent.

The best fun, the best trainers and the best location! I have been on so many camps that I cannot recall the total number of times that I have been. I have booked for 3 more next year and have one more this year. I have never had a negative experience and cannot praise Jane enough. The Camps at Somerford Park have fantastic training facilities and I am amazed at the value. I am certain that I cannot top this Camp. I think it must be hard work to arrange and organise these Camps but Jane always has a happy face and smiley disposition and I am sure there are occasions where things are not going so well but Jane does her utmost to ensure that everyone has a great time and is always approachable and willing to listen. It does not matter what level you ride at or what level your horse/pony is at these camps are for everyone. Non riders are welcome too Well done ACTIVE RIDER CAMPS

I went on the April camp this year, my horse, unfortunately didn't want to play ball which could have ruined the whole weekend for me. However Jane and everyone at camp were fantastic giving help, advice and putting the smile back on my face. (the glass of offered wine helped too!) I left camp with a plan of action, sold the horse and have now found my 'perfect' boy. Can't wait to get to another to give this one a good run out. The camps are well run, friendly and fun with excellet trainers and facilities. Everyone is there to have a good time and learn stuff along the way.

These camps are brilliant for adult riders. A real alternative to pony club camp for those of us who are too old!! Jane who organises is lovely and very efficient, meaning that the camps have a great atmosphere and are incredibly well-run. The trainers who come are top notch. Everyone who goes on camp is really friendly, meaning that when I went to camp on my own I had loads of people to talk to, eat with and just generally have fun with. The meals provided are great, as are the ice breaking activities on the first night. I really can't fault the Active Rider Camps. They cater for all riders and tackle your/your horses' issues. I have been on two camps now and they have done wonders for my confidence. I'm already booked on for 2 more this year!! Advice though: book early because these camps are always over-subscribed. Also see the facebook group for active rider for a countdown to the next camp and so you can ask any questions etc. Beware of imitations of these camps. Jane has spent years perfecting the camps, and other alternatives may not match her high standards. I would go for Active Rider every time.
