RC and I didn’t get off to a good start. My review had been edited and, as a professional of the written word, I bristle when this happens without my *explicit* consent (multi-page one-click agreements do not count: Only lawyers who are paid to write them can spare the time to read them). Consequently, my first email to RC was more polite than it was courteous. The answer I received, however, was civil, even obliging. The representative worked with me so my review would satisfy both RC’s policy and my own standards with regard to both truth and style — up to and including a last-minute switch from American to British typography, which I stressed was optional.
So there. Real editorial work from a customer reviews website. It can be done!
I also find RC more reliable than … another website that crumbles under the weight of glowing, impersonal one-line reviews. Just comparing the score of My Protein (2.1/5 on RC, 8.1/10 on that other website) is enough to make one suspicious, but that doesn’t stop there — read the last two paragraphs of my review on My Protein for more details, if you’re curious.
Nothing’s truly perfect, though. So what could make RC even better? Well, I see they have a ‘verified business’ seal, which reminds me of Amazon’s ‘verified customer’ seal, which makes me think a ‘verified identity’ seal could be of some use — not as a requirement, mind you, but as an option for reviewers who want to add weight to their words.

Thanks for your kind words - and I'm glad we managed to meet your standards.
I think the verified identify one is an interesting idea and one we'll certainly look at.
Thanks again
