“Incredibly Unprofessional”

★☆☆☆☆

written by English390 on 23/07/2014

I am a university graduate currently seeking a job in the world of Public Policy. I have been using a senior consultant in the central London office from Michael Page in the hope of starting my career. In summary, his lack of professionalism was startling, not only from failing to appear pro-active, but also from being incredibly invasive of my privacy while making provocative statements about my personal life.

When originally using Michael Page, promises were made about many upcoming job vacancies and interview opportunities. But when it came to making an application, guidance from them was wanting, lacking any real understanding of what was on offer, and rarely illustrated any interest in helping me with the process.

More seriously, I found them to be incredibly invasive. When meeting him in person, concerns over my private life, and hopes for him to be included in it, appeared to override interests in doing his job. Comments were very insulting, a level of unprofessionalism that, I hope, should never be acceptable for any firm.

As many in the job market understand, it's currently a very difficult economic climate for beginning a career. I at least expect a recruitment agency to remain knowledgeable, professional, and completely intolerant of intrusive, and at times sexist, acts.
