“Has been a brilliant buggy ”

★★★★★

written by Pinkclara1978 on 06/11/2012

My son is 2 and a half and we got this in jan 2010 in the mamas and papas sale. It has never been faulty in any way and I have loved everything about it. We live in a small house so I keep it locked to the front of the house all day, ie outside in all weathers and it hasnt rusted etc. I do a lot of dog walking and shopping and it copes with it all. I have a smart car, with a tiny tiny boot and I simply take the wheels off and slip the seat behind the drivers chair and the frame in the boot. Fits perfectly. My only disappointment was with mamas and papas who didn't make it clear that it could be used with a maxi cosi seat so we bought their own model of car seat which was very heavy but on the plus side it lasted until my son was over one whilst at 9 months most of the maxi cosi users had to get a forward facing seat and could no longer take their child out of the car onto the buggy without waking them. A carry cot was said to be a must by the hospital who said new borns should be flat as much as possible and not in a car seat or next stage seat on the pram until 6 months. So I forked out for this. It was good for approx 2 months but think we could have used the car seat in the early months because he was in it for such short periods. We did use it on the occasional night away as his carry cot over night. It does have quite a small seat which worried me at first but now at 2 and a half he is still very comfortable. I am looking to get a mountain buggy for long dog walks now as he gets older, but for the value for money I wouldn't change my decision given the chance again.

“great pram to look at!! but its not all that!!”

written by leannea86 on 11/05/2012

I would nEver reccommend this pram to any new parent I got the whole package and it cost a fortune when my daughter was 5 days old as I was coming off a kerb the frame snapped in half I took it back to mamas and papas and they sent it back for repair which took 2 weeks. Then when my daughter was 5 weeks old the wheel came off so yet again I took it back to mamas and papas and they sent it for repair got told everythink had been checked over when it went for repair then when she was 3 months old the frame snapped yet again so they gave me a brand new frame and carrycot so I was very happy then only 2 months later the frame snapped again on the new pram. Think mamas and papas are the worst made prams ever I have had 8 prams from there and everyone of them has broken!! The pram that I have wrote this review about is mamas and papas joolz

“Joolz Day (NOT M&P version) ”

★★★★★

Joolz Day (NOT M&P version)

Firstly, forget the 'old' Mamas & Papas licenced version and the infamous M&P after-care (lack) service.

The Joolz Day is simply excellent. Outselling Bugaboo in Holland (both products are Dutch) last year and now in the UK in selected independent stockists (No Department Stores!) the product is refined and set to take 2011 dominance against some of the established brands.

We saw it in our local store (they sell Bugaboo, iCandy, Stokke etc) and we fell in love and purchased on the spot. 2 year warranty with a local stockist we know if we have a problem (which we doubt) we can get it resolved quickly. The product itself takes the usual Maxi Cosi units, has a carry cot that can actually be used for overnight use (not the case with Bugaboo or iCandy - read their manuals!) and with the extending leg rest easily the longest seat unit on the market if required.

A footmuff that looks like it will actually fit a child over 12 months (Hmm, Peach anyone?!) and the styling of the Silver or Black frame is simple but effective.

A couple of ways to fold, with or without the seat and no problems at all. Quick release wheels (yes, release, not fall off - put them on properly!) a simple but effective cup holder, a nursery bag that actually hangs inside the handles and pneumatic tyres for comfort. FACT: Air tyres are better all round for a child comfort, yes you can get a puncture but with correct pressure this should be rare and at the end of the day is no different to the kids bike you will be buying for your child in 2 years anyway!

Priced below iCandy and Bugaboo, quality up with them both and Stokke, it's going to be a fine (Joolz) Day!

written by ericthesad on 07/03/2011

It's a fine looking pram - it's just a pity that the wheels come off (when they are not meant to), and that it won't collapse (when it should). We've gone through the baby carrier stage and on to the pushchair proper, we have the optional foot muff and nappy bag, we bought the whole kit and caboodle of what we thought was a "good" pram to see us through from birth until it was no longer needed - but before the child's second birthday it's not collapsing and apparently that's OK to M&P.

Problems: the wheels come off so if fits more easily into the boot. Since one broke and would not go back on and had to be replaced, and another stuck and won't come off we the pram has taken up half the boot space of our people carrier. Now that the collapsing mechanism is broken it completely fills the boot. I've just spoken to Mamas & Papas, who say it can be repaired but as it's out of warranty there will be a charge. Apparently defects of manufacture would appear within a year, so this is normal wear and tear; I'd say something designed to take a child from birth through to three or four should last that long and failure from 'normal wear and tear' within that period IS a manufacturing defect. What's that law about "merchantable quality"..?

“I had my second daughter in November 2009, 7 years...”

★★★★☆

written by on 27/10/2010

I had my second daughter in November 2009, 7 years after my first so I had to start from scratch but was a little bit wiser. I spent a lot of time searching for the right pushchair system and decided on the Joolz, I was lucky enough to have my in-laws buy the black joolz set with the car seat and adapters.

There are some features of the system that were a pain, like the size of the storage underneath the pram (only big enough for rain cover), a couple of the rods have broken through the rim of the rain cover, the main silver chasis frame has scuffed easily. Now my baby is approaching 1 year she sits in the chair unit, when it sits up its a bit too bolt upright as if she leant to far forward she might fall out (of course she's strapped in) but if I click it back a setting she gets frustrated because she's lying back to far and thinks I'm trying to get her off to sleep. Its not the best pram if you heavily rely on buses because its quite wide, in London they limit the amount of buggies on buses and I have purchased a smaller spare buggy in case I need to get a bus.

What I love about the pram is its so easy to manouvre, a push chair with power steering and luxury suspension, it doesn't get stuck over every lump and bump on the pathway. The wheels come off easily so it will fit in a boot of a smaller car. The height adjustment of the handle moves easily and is ideal for our family as some are really tiny and some are very tall. Even though its not advised I have my nappy bag shoulder strap rest over the handle of the pram and even when the baby isn't in it, it never tips over. I'm not sure if a seat cover is available for the pushchair to catch crumbs to remove and wash, if it is I wish I'd purchased one because other than a sponge clean its hard to clean the pram and pushchair body but the car seat cover comes off, it is a bit fiddly but is okay when you get the hang off it. I have an open plan living area straight off the front door and the pram stays in the room and baby has her 2 hour morning nap in the pushchair.

I would definitely recommend this pram but make sure you spend lots of time with it in the shop before you make your final choice.

I bought the Joolz in the January sales although my daughter wasn't due until June. I love the fact that it had removable wheels as it made putting it in the car easier.
The negatives are that it's quite bulky and the 'basket' underneath is useless - as other reviews have said, it only fits the raincover in it. Overall though it's very sturdy and quality wise I think it's fantastic. The pavements in our area are full of potholes etc and the Joolz glides over them - the suspension is incredible and I feel it's much safer than some of the other prams I have seen.

I have bought my Joolz stroller in London, M&P store at Regent Street. 3 Months ago. And I have to say, nothing but pleasure!! The Joolz has now been at M&P for a few years. Mine is called the Joolz Day. A completely new stroller, completely redesigned. Previous models had some difficulties in the beginning so I have heard. M&P has explained to me that these problems were now all solved with this model and the time that I am using it proves it. Very light to push, easy to fold, never fails, and it fits in my small car. Best feature is the height of both chair and carrycot on the frame. It is actually made in Holland and they have a beautifull website: www.my-joolz.com

We bought the Jooz Mamas and Papas back in october before my baby was born . our daughter was born in january she is 7months old and we have only had a pram for 3months of her being here.we didn't know about the adapters we needed.
firstly the back wheel fell off, got told to go to southampton store (we have no car and live in gosport) they sent them away, we finally got a parcel, to find out they were FRONT wheels, called up helpdesk (useless) got the correct wheels only to find out they were broke they didn't fit. finally they replaced the chassis. was fine for a while, then whilst we were crossing a ROAD the right side collapsed, again had to go to southampton, was sent for repair. we got unclean loan buggy.
2weeks later we went to get it only to find out another bit had broke, took back the loan buggy. another 2weeks later, they checked the buggy infront of us. 2 uses of it later found the left side had collapsed, we are still without a full woking pram, at the moment we're carrying her about untill we get another loan buggy.

“We bought the Joolz buggy system from Mamas and Papas...”

written by on 19/08/2010

We bought the Joolz buggy system from Mamas and Papas and have had nothing but problems with it. Firstly, the carrycot that was delivered was faulty- it didn't connect properly with the chassis on one side, so this was replaced even before our daughter was born. Secondly, when pushing the buggy around (3rd trip out) the handle came off- one of the bolts was sheared through! A new chassis was given to us - no record of this on their system as Manager did a 'fast one'Then car seat wouldn't come off of adapters- husband had to force it off, and store had to sort out adaptors.
Finally, the chassis wouldn't fold down- the wire inside basically snapped and so it no longer collapsed as it was designed to. Took it back to store, loan buggy given which smelt disgusting and was filthy. Called customer services after 2 weeks to follow up where it was (we were promised it would be back as good as new with in a week) to be told that it hadn't even been logged and therefore was still in southampton store... 3 weeks later after ridiculous amounts of calls we are still waiting for it back, and have been told that they will deliver it tomo. We have been offered £75 compensation, but to be honest, we would rather have a refund, as we no longer have any trust in the company or product. Completely fed up, and feel that southampton store staff are clearly ineffective as they have lied to us so many times. Lets hope the buggy actually turns up tomorrow!

“ALL I CAN SAY IS IF THERE IS ANYONE OUT THERE READING...”

written by on 23/04/2010

ALL I CAN SAY IS IF THERE IS ANYONE OUT THERE READING THIS THINKING OF BUYING THE MAMAS AND PAPAS JOOLZ PLEASE DONT.
MY SON IS 6 MONTHS OLD AND MAMAS AND PAPAS HAVE HAD HIS PRAM A TOTAL OF 3 TIMES WITH DIFFERENT PROBLEMS.
THE FIRST 6 WEEKS OF USING THE JOOLZ I COULD NOT FAULT IT WE HAD LOTS OF PEOPLE ADMIRING THE PRAM IT WAS EASY TO PUSH AND LOOKED FAB.
THE PROBLEMS BEGAN JUST BEFORE CHRISTMAS ON THE SCHOOL RUN THE BACK WHEEL FELL OF I HAD TO WALK HOME HOLDING THE WHEEL ON WITH A 6 WEEK OLD BABY INSIDE. I THEN HAD TO TRAVEL 35 MILES TO MY NEAREST STORE WHERE THEY GAVE ME A LOAN PRAM AND SENT MINE OFF. THE REASON THEY WOULD NOT PICK IT UP WAS THAT THEY WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO GIVE ME A LOAN PRAM WHICH I HAD TO HAVE WITH A 6 WEEK OLD.
IT TOOK 4 WEEKS FOR THEM TO FIX AND SEND BACK.
AFTER A FEW WEEKS IT HAPPENED AGAIN I TRAVELLED ONCE AGAIN TO MY NEAREST STIORE SO I COULD HAVE A LOAN PRAM.
AFTER 3 WEEKS WE HAD NOT HEARD ANYTHING SO CONTACTED MAMAS AND PAPAS WHO SAID THEY DID NOT HAVE THE PRAM AT HEAD OFFICE THEY WOULD FIND OUT WHAT THE FAULT WAS AND CALL US THE NEXT DAY WHEN THEY CALLED THEY COULD NOT FIND ANY TRACE OF MY PRAM AND EVENTUALLY ADMITTED THEY HAD LOST MY PRAM.
THEY SENT ME OUT A BRAND NEW ONE WHICH ARRIVED DAMAGED.
THEY SENT OUT ANOLTHER ONE WHICH HAS BEEN FINE FOR THE LAST FEW WEEKS BUT THIS MORNING THE HANDLE BROKE OFF WHILST I WAS ON THE SCHOOL RUN ALONE SO ONCE AGAIN I HAD A TERRIBLE WALK HOME.
WHATS GOING TO HAPPEN NEXT IM NOT SURE I WANT MY MONEY BACK AS I HAVE NO FAITH IN THE JOOLZ AT ALL.
I AM NOW WAITING TO HEAR FROM MAMAS AND PAPAS TO SEE WHAT THEY SAY BUT I CANT GO OUT UNLESS I CARRY MY BABY IN MY ARMS ITS DISGUSTING.

The carrycot was leaning at one end so had to be sent away and was replaced. I have had trouble with the chassis, after a shopping trip it decided that it would not fold down and therefore would not fit in the boot as I only have a Ford KA. I had to get my husband out of work with his van to take the chassis home. It was once again replaced with a new chassis. If those two problems aren't enough one of the front wheels continues to fall off on a regular basis. I can not be bothered to keep sending it backward and forwards so it has now been sat in our garage for the past three months collecting cobwebs and I have to say that's probably the best place for it. Also the seat is very small and my daughter looks like she's about to fall out. We have now purchased a My4 from mothercare and have to say it's the best decision I have ever made however costly!

Lovely colors and lovely to push very comfy for baby as well what drawed me to this is that it isnt your quinny or bugaboo which you see everybody with and m & p prams are built to last. The only problems with this pram is the fact you have 3 things to store and if you have a small house like me it isnt ideal. Also the lack of shopping basket you can only fit the raincover in it when it isnt in use. I would recommend this pram though if you have space to store it.

I have had the Joolz for nearly 5 months now , and i find it very good - easy to maneuver , its easy to fold, OK-it is a bit wide , so it can be a bit of a pain to squeeze trough the some places, but otherwise it seems to be quite sturdy .

written by on 15/09/2009

I purchased the Mamas & Papas Joolz in April 2009, and I had nothing but problems in the 5 months I had the travel system. To start i wasnt told that I needed seperate adaptors to attatch the car seat to the chasis, so was left a little high and dry when I went out shopping and had to carry the baby around in a heavy car seat. The matching changing bag looked years old after just weeks, it was replaced and the same thing happened again. The carry cot dropped down at one end, that had to be replaced, the chasis would not fold after 5 months it completly froze, and lastly whilst crossing a mainroad one of the back tyres fell off. I paid £900 for the pram, the car seat, rain covers, sun sheils, changing bag, car seat base and needless to say was very very disappointed, Ireturned the pram after the wheel fell off, whilst my 5 month old baby was in the pram, demanded a refund and now have a i candy apple, which i am very happy with.

I totally understand your frustration. It is a total waste of money. When our son was first born we purchased a Mamas & Papas Ziko Herbie but had nothing but trouble. After six months of problems we finally managed to get the shop where we got it from to let us pay over £100 extra to get the joolz instead and again we're having problems. The chassis will not fold. It has been away for repair for almost two months and the shop are refusing a refund. I would never purchase another Mamas & Papas product again. You think you're paying for the best quality products on the market for your precious little bundles of joy but all you're paying for is the fact that it says Mamas & Papas on it somewhere and to me that's not even worth six pence anymore let alone six hundred pounds!

I've had Joolz One Grand for nearly a year now.I love the design and especially the denim colour of it.It's really easy to manouevre on all kinds of surfaces, including grass and snow.On smooth surfaces it simply flows, you can push it with just one finger. The baby sits quite high so you don't have to bend over. However, it's not perfect. The shopping basket is really tiny and hard to reach. The hood is rather shallow, so you either need a parasol(which in my opinion is a real pain in the neck)or a pair of sunglasses for your baby:-).Finally, while it's a fantastic stroller for riding on the marble floors of shopping centres, it sometimes won't fit between the shelves and racks just because it's a bit on the wide side.
