“Frustrating, expensive and useless”

★☆☆☆☆

Before purchasing the card i read through the literature and made sure the card and type of account i was signing up for was suitable for what i wanted it for. I chose the Total account and confirmed with customer services C/S that i,d be able to pay in a set amount each month and set up a single direct debit. I was assured i,d be able to do this and i agreed on the monthly charge.

To set up the card i showed my passport and utility bill and once card was activated (took numerous expensive calls to c/s and a bounced direct debit even though money in account they wouldn't release it) the card was up and running.

Fast forward only a few months...i make a deposit in Post Office to top up account and the following day i receive a text msg from Cashplus saying they can't complete the transaction so naturally i make another lengthy call to c/s to find out why. I was asked to send my passport and driving license via the post to them to confirm my identity. I was not comfortable about sending those documents so i refused and asked about an alternative. Eventually i managed to extract that i should go into the money store and they would fax the documents on. So i took a few hours off work to get to the shop and the store staff sighed and said they were sorry but they were fed up of Cashplus and their useless, rude service. They were trying for days on end to fax documents and it never worked. They,d even got engineers out to check their fax was ok due to the ridiculously high number of failed faxs to Cashplus.

For 4 days they tried to fax my documents on to Cash plus so that i could get the card working again and retrieve my money. They were not able to but kept the huge pile of failed docs to show me how many attempts they,d made. Cue another lengthy call to Cashplus, put on hold and eventually c/s came up with the unhelpful suggestion that i should travel back to another money store and ask them to try and fax my documents through. Still have been unable to get documents faxed on.

So where am i at the moment...I have paid in 700.00 and i can't get it. They have said they will 'escalate it to head office' who will call me sometime next week.

Conclusion What kind of financial company suddenly freezes your account and wants a heavy duty documents that anyone could get their hands on and fraudulently use? I fear its a scam, certainly sounds dodgy.

I am currently the 700.00 out of pocket and thats been for almost 3 weeks....i,m also out of pocket for all the calls i,ve made, plus the cost of 2 journeys across town to money stores plus the 2 hours x 2 that i took off work to go.

I,d never recommend them. Its been an expensive, time wasting and extremely frustrating exercise. If any of the commentators whom i suspect are on the payroll of Cashplus wish to make comments then they can give me a detailed account of what has happened here and how i get my money back...

well i must be one of the very few that is happy with cashplus, i have a very bad credit rating, i started my own company up and got a cashplus business account, moved my account from express to total access, only after 3 weeks they gave me £250 overdraft on my account, yes they do have flaws but ask yourself, why did you take a cashplus account??? was it because the high street banks were throwing their money and you just didnt want it... no i dont think so, its because yoour paddling the same boat as me. fact is i transferd money from my rip of high street bank using the faster payment system (upto 2 hour transfere) on a sat afternoon and its now sunday and it still hasnt gone why? cause i was stupid enough not to read the small print. so what should i do blame cashplus for my mistake. my advice is to read all he print inc the small print then if your happy enough then apply and you will be fine as long as you follow the system. i think im getting a better deal with this company than i am with my own uk high black horse branded bank who charge me silly money for being as much as 78p short of a direct debit and then bounce it because of it, so let me wheigh it up for you. a company who dosent know me but after only 3 weeks give me an overdraft of a company that ive been with for over 11 years who wouldnt trust me enough to give me a 78p overdraft.. its a hard one folks
