“Try someone else”

This was my first time shipping a vehicle. I was going from California to Florida. I was driving myself and my family, and estimated 8 days to get me there. I was informed that someone would need to accept my vehicle upon arrival, so I left the car with my father-in-law and made him the shipping Point of contact. My plan was to meet the driver in Florida.

Montway offers a discount if you agree to pay the driver in cash when he delivers the vehicle. That was fine by me. Little did I know that would become a frustrating experience...

We were driving in a Honda Odyssey and pulling a 5 x 8 Uhaul trailer. We went though the rocky mountains (not a fun experience). Add that to the fact that we have 3 little kids and an infant, and your trip time is multiplied by 4.

Once we reached Missouri, we were certain we would not meet the driver in time. I called Montway, and they said it was better if I talked directly to the driver. I called him, and he offered to drop my car off in Orlando (an hour away from destination) if I transferred money into his account. It sounded fine at first, but then when we called him back he said it was $50 for storage fees. No thanks man. I found someone in Florida to accept the car (coworker) and called the driver back. He said no problem.

Fast forward to the next day, the day before original drop off day. We start to deive when we get hit with a severe thunderstorm. The rain made it impossible to see. The lightning was striking everywhere around us. We had to stop multiple times and even ran into a semi truck that had split in half deom crashing. It literally took us 6 hiurs to deive 40 miles. It rwally was that. The driver calls me in the middle of this and asks about the money; when are we depositing the money. My wife says we will call him back. He calls back 5 times in 2 hours.

We finally get to a decent spot with no storms and decide to call it a night. We check into a hotel and the driver calls again. He says he called our receiving person and they don't know anything about the money we owe him. I tell him I will transfer directly into his account when he drops off the car. We have the same bank account. He gets super aggressive and freaks out on me, saying he wants his money that night. I assure him he will get his money and he tells me "what if I leave your car in Miami, then what you gonna do?" Uh, seriously? I can't believe he's threatening me. I was pretty upset at that comment and he calls me an a-hole mother f'r and hangs up. Then he calls my father in law and asks anout the money. Then he calls Montway. They call me, I tell them what happened. They call him and he tells them a completely different story.

Anyway, that d-bag got his money the next morning. As promised. No apology though. Montway called and said they were going to take him off his carrier list and I would get some kind of compensation. But I soubt that because that was 12 days ago.

MONTWAY DOESN'T CARE ABOUT YOUR SATISFACTION.
